A question I almost cannot believe I am asking.

However the current table makes far from pretty reading.

Fratton is unbelievably looking a big 6-pointer as much as everything else that goes with that game.

Unfathomable given how much we spent in the summer.

This club is a total shambles.

If you'd asked me this question over Christmas I wouldn't have had to even think twice
At that point we still had an outside chance of making the Play offs

Now I'm not so sure, if they stick with Ekhart then I think we'll get dragged into a dogfight and as we've seen in the two previous relegations this club has no backbone or fight in it anymore

This week is going to be crucial, stop the rot and get at least 2 points and hopefully we can muddle through till the end of the season, any less and we're definitely looking over our shoulder

Give me a Tommy Widdrington or Simon Charlton over most of our current players, yes they were limited but they had professional pride and gave everything on the pitch

Yes, but next year could be intetesting. Therafter once the parachute payments cease, watch the hierachy run for the hills.

I seriously believe not one of our leaders (term loosely used) have any idea what the grand plan is or how to manage the risk, or current situation.

Still, if we reach League 1 hopefully it will flush a lot of ouf fanbase out which is s major part of the issue.

From an established PL outfit to this. We are a Basket Case.

I think we will stay up this season , but it will be a lot closer than some think.

We’ve just taken 3 points from our last 6 we’d have to carry on that form to go down and I can’t see it this season.

Next Sunday has all the hall marks of that infamous 4-1 defeat there in 2005.

This whole season, apart from the glory patch when Eckhart took over we've looked like a bottom 6 team.

It reminds me of Sunderland from 7 or 8 years back.

Like us they were relegated from the Prem and were utterly hopeless...remember the 8 nil thrashing we gave them .

They never recovered from the trauma and bumped along on the bottom areas of the Championship for a few seasons before eventually bottoming out in L1 .

...tailspinning out of control...hapless owners, managers and players and a disbelieving fan base , all unable to reverse the terrible rot that had built up .

I won't be shocked if we follow a similar path.

We need to get 17 points from our remaining 19 games to get to 50 points, which is usually enough.

Should be straightforward.

However we look bereft of anything right now.

We need to revert to 4-4-1-1.

Manning has to go. He is incapable of defending, and Welington is little better.

I would play Jack Stephens at left-back; he has done it a number of times before, including the play-off final and in a few games in the Prem.

This then gives Eckert the three tallish players he wants at the back.

Bree at right-back. Roerslev isn't good enough and is too weak.

Shea Charles and Bragg in central midfield.

Downes can do one. I'd happily see him never play for the club again, as with Manning.

Scienza and Fellows out wide.

Armstrong behind Stewart as our attack.

That team should have enough experience, know-how and goals in it to get the results we need.

I’ve not checked again but I think we’ve only taken 3 points from the last 21 ( seven games ) available. Either way our current form is unashamedly relegation form.

Teams that get relegated from any division are usually the ones that can’t score goals and that’s the worry for me.

Take out the 5 goal outlier result at Charlton and currently our players can’t hit a cow’s backside with a banjo.

Add in the fact that our defence is currently as porous as blotting paper and the omens don’t look promising.

Something needs to change and change rapidly hopefully starting on Wednesday against Sheffield and again on Sunday against Portsmouth.

Difficult to comprehend really given that before a ball was kicked we were second favourites at 5/2 behind Ipswich to win the league.

A masterpiece by the Loons in how not to Own and Manage a Football Club.
