A roller coaster of a season with a good ending 22:09 - Jul 26 with 741 viewsA1079

I have no idea how we played today as I have not seen anything of it, but a good result, another double over a promoted team, Che Adams seems to be finding the net now and with it his confidence.

We have ended the season tremendously but look at the whole season and it has been a roller coaster that is for sure and I doubt any of us in November would have expected us to finish where we have. To finish it just 7 points off the top 6, to get more than 50 points, a goal difference of -9 which matches the goals conceded on that fateful but pivotal night is one of supreme credit to Ralph and the team.

For me personally, I started to feel that we had a chance and showed signs of renewed hope away to Arsenal just before Christmas. I know we could and should have won it, but there was something in that game that said we had a special team spirit forming.

We have real hope for next season if we can strengthen in the areas where we need to and put a little depth in quality to the squad. I am not deluded or suddenly think everything is perfect - we still make too many errors, our home record has been costly. But, we are doing things which we have not done in the past - fought to the bitter end in games when we used to surrender, stayed as a unit and a team when things go wrong. We are doing it by playing attractive entertaining football.

I feel positive about the team and it makes such a change that we are going into the close season (however brief that may be) without looking for a manager.

Agreed.

Ralph's had a decent learning curve adapting quickly. He had one last try at playing PEH out of position recently (rectified at half time) but has generally favoured a more stable team lately. Other than injuries and suspensions the only place up for grabs seems to have been who will partner Sir Ings. This stability has been the key to our success imo.
