Short answer is that we don't know. We have not seen or heard the evidence or had a chance to weigh the credibility of the witnesses.

He may well be a woman beating thug (in which case he deserves prison, heavy fines, community sentence, being displayed in the stocks on Salford Quay) but let's see what a jury thinks before condemning him based on who he used to play football for?
