VAR 16:34 - Mar 2 with 1698 viewsPatfromPoole

No VAR in the Championship, I believe, apart from the end of season play-offs.

This is about the only thing keeping me sane, following on from the experience of recent home games against Villa, Newcastle and Grimsby.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

You say that but by what I’ve been hearing it looks like a different version of it (so it won’t be used for all the same situations) will be getting introduced into the championship for the 24/25 season.
But hopefully by the some of it will be sorted as they’re gonna be explaining their decisions and showing them to the crowd next season.

But ether way it only looks like we’ll be avoiding it for a season or so

They won't be happy until VAR has destroyed the whole of football.

The Football League shouldn't touch it with a barge pole. It's ruinous.

It’ll destroy football for all those real proper fans actually going to the game and supporting their team live at the stadiums, as you’ll just get to a point where you won’t be able to celebrate anymore after scoring (as even I did a VAR sign jokingly to my mates I watched the game with after we scored the second, but the fact is that I was only gone and proven right a few minutes later!)

As VAR is made for all those foreign TV deals with all those watching from across the world, as well as many of those Man U glory hunters watching from the likes of Plymouth, Millwall, Essex etc… as it’s made for those lot who can see the replays of these incidents on their TV’s at home with all the angles and replays, whilst those real fans at the stadium see bugger all!

Still it’s gonna be staying, so we’ve just gotta hope that they change things up so the experience for the true fans are a lot better than what they used to be!

Personally I feel that people need to stop making excuses for it. It would be great if only for the stupid officials - that sort of things.

It's hopeless. An utter disaster. Everything that people were concerned about introducing such a thing to such free flowing game were worried about, and more.

Going back to the drawing board is the only way. And please ffs don't expland it to other divisions!!

You say “stupid officials” but most of the time they get their decisions correct, it’s just the issues behind those decisions is of how long it takes and how that can make the crowds feel at the game.

But most of the officials themselves aren’t actually that bad, but simply as they give these decisions that the LOTG state, which many fans don’t like, but are what the LOTG state, as well as many 50:50 decisions where one group is gonna get peed off no matter what they give.
As it doesn’t matter who’s in charge of VAR as until the way it’s used changes then it’s not gonna get any better

Of course VAR is the issue.

On the basis of any sort of reasonable analysis, overall it has made football worse.

Many of its decisions are downright wrong, and even more are extremely marginal. And it always slows down the games and tempers any excitement when a goal is scored.

The cost-benefit analysis is clear. Massive cost - ocassional benefit. Not worth it.

Yep can’t wait to celebrate a goal without the all to common check and in our case recently disallowed goal.
We’re deffo on a sh!te run of VAR decisions.
Haven’t seen the penalty decisions from Wednesday but from where I was sat the 2nd one was ridiculous

The first one was too. The bloke who crossed it used his arm to control it. Funny how that was overlooked despite taking so bloody long. The ref even too an age when in front of him ffs.

As for the second one the guy who got shot was grabbing and digging at car first anyway, but of course he didn't go down and cry and squeal like an injured pig.

Funny how he had the strength to get up and punch the air once it was awarded. Cheating cu.nt

keep the faith coyr
