Southampton V Fulham The Verdict on 10:48 - May 15 with 1137 viewssaintwizzler

We’ve been gutless since we beat West Ham 2nd March 2022.
Something changed at Southampton Football Club after that day.
Downward spiral since then.
Nathan Jones and Ruben Selles were massive mistakes.

Fulham have had their best ever season.
Themselves, Brighton and Brentford go to show what can be done with clubs the same size as us.

The season is over now and it’s time to see what Sports Republic do before The Championship kicks off on (probably) 4th August.

Only 81 days from today.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.
Poll: Who/what is to blame for the Swansea result?

Nick the players squad are not good enough. We have lost something like 34 out of the last 47 premier league games!
Fulham are a much better team, i doubt they would want more than 2 or 3 of our players.

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

There’s 4 players who started that game on Saturday that are Premier League quality.
JWP, KWP, Alcaraz and Lavia

Nick I agree with most of that Nick except....
You have said on many any occasion that this squad is more than good enough to stay up.

Frankly that is clearly not true. Firstly because we've been relegated for a start.
Secondly because we've been poor right through 2022 and into 2023. We have the odd surprise win or battling draw, but as they say occasionally even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

We have been losing games consistently and were in the bottom three for months. We've ended up bottom with 24 points. So I see absolutely no evidence that this team was good enough to stay up. That is purely wishful thinking. This team was not and is not good enough to stay up.

I think player selection, tactics, substitutions and general management has played a large part in the demise. Just watch the transformation in Chelsea when Pochettino takes over there. At the moment they're showing similar symptoms to this lot.
He'll drive them hard in training, give them a sense of purpose and give them a game plan so they actually know what they're all doing and where they're supposed to play.
Unlike here.
