Playing standards wise, Ligue 1 is nothing to write home about - especially at Clubs in the nether regions thereof… RM says he is still hopeful a deal can be done for his No.1.target, Matt O’Riley from Celtic who we have tried the usual ‘Southampton way’ of low-balling Celtic with a £20m bid - so, add what we are prepared to pay for Camara to our low-ball initial bid and go back to Celtic, then we might actually get a deal for a quality midfield player over the line. You cannot do things in the cheap all the time, and young players from abroad very rarely succeed and if they do they need at least one season to adjust
To stay in the PL you have to spend, if we cut corners there will only be one outcome!

Agreed and agreed - he is indeed an excellent player and you are spot on re stumping up £30m, and even if we do, the next issue will be his wages…
Where’s Solak and his big pot of dosh when it’s needed?? Looks to me as if we are on our third consecutive billionaire with deep pockets and short arms. Markus L was brilliant, saved the Club and bankrolled successful times, sadly his untimely passing was the last time we were properly funded.
Kat L never had the stomach for it money wise - people leap to her defence saying she presided over the most successful period we have had recently, true, but bankrolled by the investment her Dad made with all due respec to her.
Then we had the Chinese billionaire with pots of money and big plans - I actually felt a bit sorry for him as about two weeks after he took over the Chinese government froze his assets! They banned entrepreneurs from investing their money in projects outside of China and even made specific reference to European football clubs!! However, he should have stood aside sooner as he was never going to be able to fund us thanks to the embargo on his fortune.
Now we are on to Dragon Solak, yes, he has helped out but come on, let’s see some extra investment to give us a decent chance of staying up - funding the O’Riley move would be a good start…
