The financial reality of the Championship 08:25 - Dec 23 with 1168 viewsPatfromPoole

Some scary posts from Kieran Maguire's Twitter account this morning about losses recently reported by Championship clubs.

Once the parachute monies dry up, very deep pockets indeed are required.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

Given our budget, we really should be in the top 2 this season.

I don't think any other club in the League could afford Scienza.

The only club with a bigger wage bill than us is Leicester, who now cannot afford to pay their staff.....

Whilst there are a fair few maintaining they would rather be in the Championship, it wouldn't take long to see us then struggle. I personally like the Championship, but we really do need to get promotion again and quick. Play offs realistically this year and just hope next year we can mount a push (but suspect our key man could be tempted away by then).

Shouldn't fear though, we have plenty of 'sister' clubs in our group who would easily prop us up with both financial resources, and quality playing staff...........

Ready and waiting to mop up those European places......

Definitely.

The margin between being near the top and near the bottom is thin in this League.

The signing of a decent striker in the next couple of weeks could make all the difference.

And another Championship club losing a shitload, despite making a profit of £33 million on selling players….

Step back 5 seasons, make that statement, stop forward a season, same again, and so on. Let’s face facts, this ownership group of and admin team are NEVER going to get us a good strike for this or any other league.

In the 23/24 season under Martin with the likes of Bednarek, KWP, Adams etc , after 23 games , the same amount we've played this season we were on 45 points.
Compared to the 31 points we currently have.

We'd be 2nd now with that amount.

Each year Clown Republic diminish us further and further...as someone amusingly put it ..into a player trading and funfair business.
