| 5 Things About Fulham Game 10:14 - Mar 9 with 1392 views | SaintNick | 1. I had breakfast and a beer in Clapham where the pubs were open at 10 am, but when we got to Putney all the pubs were shut and didn't open till noon, that is strange for a football match, when Saints are at home in a lunchtime kick off the pubs open early. 2. The away end is a decent view if you can avoid a pillar being in the way, but at the back it is quite narrow and open a bit to the elements, loads of bars under the stands and easy to get served if you walk to the far end of the stand, I didn't bother at £7.30 a pint. 3. The trains in this country are absolutely chaotic, 2 hours to get to Clapham from Southampton due to the line being shut between Southampton & Basingstoke, I can't remember the last time it wasn't shut somewhere on a weekend when I have used it. 4. What a sanitised ground it is, the tv replays showed loads of tourists behind the goal taking videos of Stewarts penalties and speaking to Fulham fan, a seat in the upper bit of their new stand in the centre is upwards of £100 for Premier League games and the tickets are snapped up by tourists. 5. Great support from the fans, for some reason it seemed to be more male dominated in those present than usual for League games, perhaps men of a certain age + a beer or two = more noise | |

| 5 Things About Fulham Game on 10:49 - Mar 9 with 1297 views | PatfromPoole | The Dukes Head at Putney was open from 9am, I think. We went there for a drink before and after the game. Interesting train trip up, we got the 6.27 from Branksome. Female guard on the train got pretty agitated and got British Transport Police on the train, as a load of our yoof (who got on at Southampton) were misbehaving. Don't think many of them had bought train tickets. At one point she got on the tannoy and said it was a "hotspot train", which seemed to be train-speak for "we'll get everyone off this train if this does not stop"..... | |

| 5 Things About Fulham Game on 11:10 - Mar 9 with 1261 views | Southamptonfan | Great away day. Parked near a tube station, and got a tube in. Quite a long walk from Putney Bridge, by the river and playgrounds, which isn't your usual scenery on your way to a football game. Good view in the stadium. Why an earth one block of tickets were left unsold is beyond me. An extra block giving us an advantage? 5000 or 6000, what difference does it make? I guess we will never know why both or either club didn't want the extra income. Never seen so many Porsches, ferraris and expensive cars in one area. There was a book shop, seemingly closed with loads of books on display outside the shop. Anyone could easily have run off with books to read on the train back home. Great to see pubs displaying Saints banners after the game, and singing coming from zny open doors. Our fans were incredible. A long time since I have heard us take a whole end like that and sing with such loud passion. Wonderful to be a part of it snd shows that the FA cup still retains its magic. The team were a credit to Southampton FC yesterday. They gave everything. We could have been 5 nil up at half time. Our goalkeeper is brilliant. A massive upgrade. Love Sciensa, but how did he miss that one on one? [Post edited 9 Mar 11:14]

I was a at the back of that train and heard the announcement, at the game i saw a mate of mine who is a train driver and mentioned what the guard had said, he said he had never heard the phrase "Hot Spot" and that there was no way that a train would be stopped and emptied for something like this . Said guard was totally overreacting and trying to scare these kids

We were also on that train and heard it. Tbf, it certainly caught the attention of everyone in our carriage and all went very silent so announcement worked! But "hotspot"? - wtf Not sure what caused the need for the announcement but there was certainly a lot of tinnies taken on board!

Loads of lads queuing outside toilets 🤣. No wonder the train guard was wondering what they were up to and probably what the attraction was inside that loo!!! "Not on my shift lads". [Post edited 9 Mar 14:14]

But they were complimentary about us, though Silva was not too keen on the "goal" being disallowed. Having seen it again that just sounds like sour grapes, as the ref was correct in his decision

| 5 Things About Fulham Game on 15:08 - Mar 9 with 726 views | Wints76 | I've never heard of a Hotspot train, but do know there have been issues on that line, so it may be a local term that they use. Getting everyone thrown off the train was never going to happen, but from what I heard, the Guard was right to call the police. Shouldn't have to be intimidated at work (or anywhere) I am not a fan of 12 KOs, and went to the Wetherspoons at Clapham but left as they had 2 staff on and it was seemingly a 30 minute wait and I have no patience. Turns out my son was in there and he could have got me a drink. I am a fan of 12 KOs when I am back home in Winch by about 5 Good away end at Fulham, and the first time I have seen their new stand to the left. Its very smart, but seems to not have that many seats. I think the expense is in the behind the scenes stuff that Fulham seem keen to utilise, which probably makes sense for them Our support was pretty decent. It doesnt have to be about songs, just making a racket | | | |

I think most on here must have been on the same train! The guard was making it up as she went along No real trouble just our lads being a bit loud As said many did not have train tickets They did have way too much alcohol and were giving it away as we got to Clapham (Thanks!!)

I'm not sure the guard knew there was a game on initially. We saw her not long after we got on at Branksome, and she seemed a bit shocked when we said the train would be heaving. I didn't actually think it was that busy, probably due to it going eastwards rather than stopping at Parkway, Eastleigh and Winchester.

Plus an unbearable female commentator so I watched it with the mute button deployed. Agreed re the edit - typical PL club bias, can’t bring themselves to give us the credit due, too busy doing the Wokey Cokey re commentators, presenters and analysts…
