Just watched England lose 1-0 to Japan.
Alright it was only a friendly but it does highlight our weaknesses.
We were toothless without Harry Kane & gutless in midfield without Declan Rice.
How can we be 6/1 with Bookies about winning the competition whereas Japan are 80/1.

Yes, even though he only came on as a sub, Sugawara was excellent. His goal line clearance was almost as important as Mitoma's goal in Japan's victory. Japan were very good. You can see why they beat Brazil.
Without Kane, Saka and Rice, England are mediocre and have no goal threat.
England with Kane is far more likely to win games than England with Solanke or Calvert-Lewin or Bowen. Even though Welbeck is 35, these games would have been the ideal time to see what he could do for England. He might be the only centre forward we have, other than Kane, who is international class. An opportunity wasted.
It could be worse. At least England qualified for the finals. Italy have been knocked out by Bosnia-Herzegovina.

I find it depressing that England make all the same mistakes that Saints have done in recent years, like trying to play tippy tappy possession when they aren't good enough to break down well organised teams down playing like that. Tonight's Saintsy mistake was trying to play without a proper centre forward. When will they learn?
The one that had the worst game tonight was Tuchel. Absolutely garbage the way he set the team up and the tactics. The only thing he got right was afterwards he said "we played WAY too narrow". Well yeah, but that was obviously going to happen with the team he put out, but more importantly, if he knew what the problem was, why can't he get simple tactical messages across to the players to change it? He even had drinks breaks that allowed him to talk to the team and that still changed nothing. Anthony Gordon can be great playing wide left, but it seems someone has told him to come inside all the time which makes him totally ineffective. It finally got a bit better in the second half when he brought on some players who can play wide and get crosses in. | | | |

Yep, we qualified by beating a bunch of relative no hopers which is what we are good at.
Get to the States and play against anybody half decent and we will do what we have become expert at over the last 60 years, fold like a pack of cards.
Never mind,because by then the F A will have sold thousands of shirts to gullible people at ridiculous prices.
