Great OP Loftboy

Certainly got me thinking.

How about the back and forth chant between The Loft and The Paddock in the terrace days

We're the paddock, we're the paddock, we're the paddock, Shepherds Bush!

We're the loft boys, we're the loft boys, we're the loft boys, Shepherds Bush!

Used to love being in The Paddock when we played the big teams, always a lively game

Chant of Did you come in a taxi? to teams who brought a small number of fans to HQ.

Remember a night game versus Port Vale where they brought so few fans that the whole away end was closed and they plonked those Vale fans that did travel in Ellerslie Road.

When playing Oxford Utd at home back in the 80's the chant of "You'll never make the Westway"

Attack; Attack - Attack, Attack, Attack!

A lot of my Charlton mates had known Headphone Norman since they were little and he was an icon down at Charlton. Lots of chaps in tears after witnessing his passing in the Covered End on Saturday.

RIP Norm

All clubs have these characters and they are the essence of the clubs they support.

Got no idea how to post links to videos, but thought I would draw your attention to Ren. Welsh bloke now living in Brighton, still busking on streets, but doing lots online. Getting a big following.

{edit} as predicted that did not work, so here is link to his wiki page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren_Gill

Super talented musician - Rap artist, but does loads of other stuff and is also in a band called 'The Big Push' I believe.

He has a great back story - definitely had a tough life with illness, but has channelled that into his music and as an independent has had some chart success.

Old Dartfordains Rugby Club. Know it well. Club is in Bourne Road, just outside Old Bexley Village, which is worth a stroll around as it has a few good pubs including a 15th century pub called the Kings Head.

Just over the road from Old Dartfordians is a Holiday Inn and bar called the Black Prince in case you would rather stay over the night, rather than use the spill proof urine bottle on the way home.

I had a hip replacement this year - osteoarthritis. Got it in my knees also. Too much Football, Cricket and Athletics when i was younger. Sport is good for you they say!

Had the camera up the japs eye three times in the last year, bladder issues. Getting old is cr*p.

However, still think I am 21 and go out on some ridiculous binge sessions, only to suffer with horrific hangovers for 48 hours afterwards and the sound of the wife banging on 'when will you learn' ringing in my ears

I just find myself becoming less tolerant with ignorant people. Feet on seats on buses and trains, vaping on public transport, not paying for tubes / trains. People dropping litter, fly tipping . The list of things that rile me is increasing.

I am sure I will have a Michael Douglas 'Falling Down' episode one day and go on a rampage

When I see him next I will mention there is a fellow Leigh-on-Sea Rangers fan and see if he is ok with sharing his contact details with you over DM. I am sure he visits this site when he is not travelling the world.

We are both in our middle to late 50's as well, so good chance you might recognize us from home and away games in the past.

RIP Mark Kaylor

But your message Discodroids referenced the old East Ham Workings Man Club which brought back great memories of some great nights out in there with my wife's family (all from Canning Town). Used to have Double Diamond on draft in big old pint jugs. Brilliant

Discodroids do you know a QPR fan called Andy who lives in Leigh-On-Sea?

The product is indeed still available, but the correct name for them is actually:

Mr Brains Pork F*ggots in a West Country sauce

My mistake

Have to agree with other posters about:

Butterscotch Angel Delight
Findus Crispy Pancakes

However, Brains F*ggots in a west country sauce were a firm favourite with creamy mash and veg, and I still eat them to this day. I have actually managed to eat a tray of eight before.

Arctic Roll anyone?

My wife is a desert making goddess and her steamed syrup pudding, Spotted Dick or Jam Roly Poly are heavenly with custard

Her Bread Pudding and Bread & Butter Pudding are also excellent.

My grandads rice pudding with egg custard was delicious. As a WWII vet he used to refer to it as 'Burma Road' pudding

The old East Terrace was amazing. There was a pub not far from the ground called The Valley (now demolished) and it had a huge picture covering a whole wall of that Terrace when it was full, might of been for their record crowd for an FA Cup game when there were 80K in the ground.

My mates being mostly Charlton fans were there clearing up the ground in preparation for one of the moving back to the Valley false dawns and one of my friends saved all the club records. Boxes of team sheets, wage books etc. He struck a deal with the club who bought them back from him years later after he had stored and restored them. They had been left to rot and squatters had been using the books for starting fires, so he saved a lot of the clubs history for them.

Used to hate coming out of WHL and navigating the walk back to Seven Sisters. Remember coming out one year and being attacked by a large mob of spurs waiting at a bus stop and seeing a Stanley blade flash in front of my face, thankfully missing me by centimetres, otherwise my mush would have looked like Adam Ant with his red makeup .

Tottenham - horrid place

Yeovil FA Cup game was a great day out. Remember being in a pub and trying the local scrumpy and had my hand stamped as they only allowed one pint per person.

Very lively before, during and after the game. Police did not have a clue what to do.

Long walk back to the station after the game, soaked and covered in mud
