Southampton At Norwich City The Verdict
at 17:27:44

You say " although seeing how you knew exactly what I meant by top for the first time, I’m sure you’ll just mention the Johnsons paint trophy or some friendly competition we won over one summer". I've never mentioned any of these so please don't presume to speak for me or second guess what I do or don't say on a forum - or anywhere else. That would be even more idiotic than calling for Ralph's head after 1 poor performance.

To that point, were the 9-0 defeats not poor performances, was losing to 9-man Newcastle not a poor performance? The Norwich performance was far from isolated - again, maybe get a few facts right before posting.

Southampton At Norwich City The Verdict

First of all - many other players in other clubs all round Europe played the same amount of football as Adams but would have played a full game at the weekend. Secondly - it wasn't obvious that Adams was particularly knackered - in my opinion Tino probably looked more knackered.

As I said in my post, most posters on here don't think that Ralph should go but do question some of his judgement calls - to me that's not bedwetting or being an idiot. Many people on here have been watching Saints for a long time and recognise that supporting Saints is a bit of a roller coaster.

I quote directly from you: "top of the league for the first time ever!". That's just not true. So if you can't get a simple fact (rather than an opinion) about our history correct and yet accuse others of being armchair fans and idiots for having a different opinion to yours then that is pathetic (to use your own words).

Elijah - maybe actually read what many people have posted before sounding off. Most people are not suggesting Ralph is sacked but that he clearly needs to improve some decision making. For example, it's not just brining Walcott on but he brought him on for our goal-scorer Adams (which kind of defeats the comment you are trying to make!) and which you would have noticed had you been at the game.

If you were a non-plastic fan you might also realise that Saints have been top before - just not in the Premier League era.

Please stop embarrassing yourself and actually get a few facts straight first before sounding off. To use your own words - "Its (sic) just pathetic".

I think a problem with Ralph's subs is that they seem to lack any sort of logic - maybe he's trying to confuse the opposition. However, he just seems to confuse everyone else! I'm not in the Ralph out camp but he would help himself by at least making sensible decisions.

Southampton At Norwich City The Verdict
at 10:10:05

So many points to discuss:

1) The abject refereeing. It's embarrassing how bad this was. My brother in law is a Norwich fan and after the game we went back to his and he was complaining about Atkinson. However, the majority of decisions that he got wrong were against Saints - including for the first goal. If the man is not on the take, I'm a dutchman;
2) When we brought Walcott on we went down to 10 men. The guy should have the decency to retire;
3) Forster must be in goal for the foreseeable future. We need to go for Johnson in January window;
4)As someone else mentioned, what's the point of J W-P's corners?
5) Ralph makes major mistakes in his substitutions. He urgently needs an effective number 2 as I worry his sell by date may be rapidly approaching.
6) We also need a leader on the pitch - this was sorely lacking in the second half.

The Defence Has Been Sorted Now Saints Just Need To Start Scoring

I believe we have some reason for optimism. I like the fact that the team now seem to fight rather than roll over and die but we still desperately need a leader on the pitch - especially as we have some very talented young players. This season is about building a strong foundation and if we could buy Broja, even with a buy back clause, that would be great.

Ralph Hasenhuttl Has To Be Given Time To Finish The Job He Started

I'm with you Block 8. Not only is there no able assistant but there are also no leaders on the pitch, which I don't think is a coincidence.

I'm also concerned about who we might get if Ralph leaves because the root of the problem is the owner. In another thread, nobody could say what Gao has done well because frankly he's done nothing well. We appear to be a shambles on and off the pitch. Whenever people complain about Gao the apologists say "he could be worse" or "you can't expect a Man City type owner" - although this is true, I don't want that. What I want is a Tony Bloom type owner; Brighton are currently an excellent model of a community centred club.

Southampton At Manchester City The Verdict

Some great observations! I have a few further ones:

1) The crowd and team need to be patient against Wolves;
2) It is worth remembering that Stephens and the much maligned Yoshida were really thrown in at the deep end and have done great service for Saints;
3) I worry that we haven't signed a leader. I wonder if Ralph doesn't like a bit of competition?

But overall a great result on Saturday and I think (hope) that we are indeed in a better position than last year.

Saints Bring In Defender From Everton
at 14:11:11

In answer to DellBoyWally. As exciting as the recent signings are, signing young, talented players is a high-risk strategy because they will need a little time - hopefully we have that time, the risk pays off and we have an amazing team in a couple of seasons' time. In our financial position, it is the right thing to do, rather than risk over-spending on crocks.

However, this doesn't take away from the fact that under Gao's ownership we have gone backwards. Many mistakes have been made over the last few years both on and off the pitch and I hope that he has learnt from the experience. Could we expect a better owner - who knows? All I know is that the supporters were here before him and will be here after he goes. The owners are only the custodians of the clubs - it's not like owning another type of business.

I too will support Saints, but not unreservedly so. I am though a mere youngster,; I've only supported Saints for 55 years!

Who Was To Blame For The Turnstile Fiasco At St Mary's !
at 17:10:25

I blame Yoshida, Stephens and the fans! It is definitely not the club's fault as Saints are the best run club with the best owners anywhere in the world at any time!

Maybe we should get some stewards from the Nice - Marseille match. They looked as hopeless as Saints' stewards.

Plenty Of Tickets Left For The Manchester United Game

Put very simply - watching Saints just isn't enjoyable at the moment. I've supported Saints for over 50 years but I struggle to remember such a gutless performance from the club both on and off the pitch over such a sustained period. In addition I feel increasingly disconnected from PL football - maybe I'm just getting old and grouchy.

Southampton Linked With Gary Cahill ! Can We Hope For A Leader At last !

To be fair to Nick - the logic is good. However, I'm not sure that Cahill is the man to do the job any more. I actually really like the idea of Caceras, maybe together with Phillips?

My criticism of Bertrand was that he was never a leader.

100% agree with the comments - he has a good attitude and is still young. Also, he brings some excitement to games. I'm afraid Redmond is a busted flush - at least for Saints.

Premier League Referee's Motives Called Into Question Yet Again As Vestergaard's Red Card Is Overtur
at 11:17:17

Why do so many people assume that referees are neither cheats nor corrupt? With the aount of money swilling around the trough of football this is extremely naive. In my view the evidence is there to show that they are either:

cheats
corrupt
incompetent
or a mixture of all three.

Until we have a categoric answer, I am prepared to believe in all three.
