Russell Martin is David Brent times 10
at 09:14 21 Nov 2024

Brent probably gave them 4 days off again like he did in the last international break.

Can anybody really imagine Koeman being like that?

God, this is a cringey watch.

“Rhino”
“Tay”

What we need is a manager with some gravitas, who the players will fear.

What we have is a bloke who just wants to be their highly-paid mate.

God, it almost makes me pine for Hassenhutl.

Following Man City 's Style is Fundamentally Flawed and Must stop Now
at 14:46 20 Nov 2024

The oppo defence are all having cigars while we faff about with the ball at the back.

We then give it away after 3,000 passes and the oppo score.

I am not greatly exaggerating reality here.

Wiz would be pre-occupied with Ann Widdecombe and Wincey Willis.

Jan Bednarek's injury means that he will now be overtaken as the Premier League's top passer in terms of number of passes this season.

The fact that we have the most frequent passer and yet are bottom of the League tells you all you need to know about the current methods being an absolute waste of time.

Who knew there would come a time when we would lament not having Che Adams?

There is more chance of me having a threesome with Scarlett Johansson and Kylie, filmed by Liz Hurley, than of Shea Charles signing for Arsenal.

Shea Charles gets stuck in, but I saw more than enough of him last season to see that on the ball he is reminiscent of Carlton Palmer.

In the 1990's a player with abysmal ball control like Carlton Palmer could get away with it, but you get found out pretty quickly in these days if you can't pass the ball 5 yards to one of your colleagues.

Such sad news about legendary Dave Watson
at 14:18 18 Nov 2024

I think I read an interview with Dave Merrington that he flagged his concerns to the powers that be, but was strongly advised by the Board at the time to overlook it.

A number of those people would then make a tidy sum out of the Secure Retirement reverse takeover, having conned an elderly shareholder out of his potentially valuable shares (I forget his name, but others with a better memory than me will recall…).

Saints Present Top Goal Scorers

Point of order.

It has been established on this board that Cup goals don’t count.

It was decreed The Broja Rule, I believe.

Central Defensive Injury Blow For Southampton

Came on for a cameo role at Cardiff away for all of about 5 minutes, and not been seen since.

I think that he, Ross Stewart and Juan Larios are possibly all allergic to grass.

REINFORCEMENTS INCOMING

We have moved from signing the fastest player at the World Cup to the fastest player in the Johnstone Paints Trophy, or whatever it's called now.

TBF, he can't be any worse than Sulemana.

Saints Not Afraid Of Sacking Russell Martin Even If They Have To Pay
at 12:18 14 Nov 2024

There is little point in sacking him if nobody better wants the gig.

The key thing to me is whether Ankersen, Kraft and Parsons will accept that this style of football is destined for failure for us, and that we need a more pragmatic manager who will get us those ugly wins we need to climb the table.

If they are just going to employ another reincarnation of Russell Martin, there is little point in doing it.

I still think they are going to go down the Director of Football route, and that will be all they do this season.

Is the suggested Liverpool Cup boycott having an effect ?
at 12:14 14 Nov 2024

That Chelsea semi-final was only 3 days after a crucial League game away up at Leicester, arguably a more important game.

You may remember I drove you to this game and managed to lose my wedding ring during the game, mercifully recovered afterwards.

I thought it was a bigger sin that we only had around 1,000 fans at that game; yes it was a Thursday night in Leicester but we sold out last season when we were pushing for promotion (albeit it didn't look a strong bet that night....).

It is inevitable for us that a moderately successful team will lead to a bigger following. Whereas a hopeless team will attract less support.

I try to be pragmatic about this, and recognise that the only way people can protest nowadays in these sanitised times is simply to stay away.
