The trouble is, if we're not pragmatic when key players are out, and consequently clock up a load of defeats, by the time they are available again, we'll be doomed to yet another mid-table finish. Or - gulp - even worse .
If you like table tennis - I am a tiny bit obsessed with playing it at the moment - the WTT channel on YouTube usually shows all the big games live, free of charge.
All organisations need to be wary of assuming that the current year/season is the baseline and that the next one will definitely be better.
There is no guarantee of this, especially when you're a club like QPR, so, never far away from some sort of upheaval or crisis.
We talk about how player sales can help finance the club. Well true, but nothing will boost our finances more than being promoted, so we have to push for that now, especially given how close we are to the play-offs.
By the way, I accept that if we go up this season, we could have a torrid time because the squad is far from ready for it, but we shouldn't pass up the chance.
Have we covered "I swear" yet? It's a powerful film about a Tourettes sufferer growing up in an era when the condition was yet to be recognised.
"Joyride" is also excellent. Set in Ireland, it sees a quirk of fate throw a teenager from a troubled family together with a woman - played by Olivia Colman - who has just given birth to an unwanted child. Poignant yet full of humour.
I'm starting to get into red wine, I had a glass of Chilean Primitivo the other day and it was beautifully rich and smooth. I like Malbec too but Maury is also very palatable.
A few years back, we went to a hotel which had an enormous range of liqueurs. I wanted to try something new and plumped for one made from pears, namely Poire William. It's a bit like pear -flavoured Calvados and I love it. A link to a random supplier is below.
I think it's because he was taking the mickey out of JS' accent.
My aunt has lived and worked in France since the 1970s and even though she is totally fluent in French, locals can still tell from her accent that she's not French.
For goodness sake, Ted, stop sitting on the fence .
As I now live in Edinburgh - make of that what you will - I am fortunate enough to have a free bus pass even though I'm "just" 61. Even better, the bus service here is phenomenal plus the bus pass can be used on the tram.
PS: A relative who is in her late 80s and who also lives in Edinburgh steadfastly refuses to have a bus pass because she thinks it would betray her age. Sadly, her face and physical state rather give the game away, but then she is full of quirks, like insisting on driving all the way to Yorkshire to get her Christmas roast even though her daughter in law has pointed out that exactly the same bird is available in her local Tesco .
Now for something completely different: If you're interested in climbing or extreme sport, Alex Honnold, the first person to free solo a full route on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, will be free climbing a 1600 foot high skyscraper live on Netflix, on January 23.
In Alex' own words: "I’ll be free soloing Taipei 101 in Taiwan. It’s been a long time goal of mine and it’ll be the most ambitious urban climb that I’ve attempted. It’s a nearly 1,700 ft tower! What’s not to like?! And I’ll be doing it LIVE on Netflix. Tune in Friday, January 23 at 8PM ET / 5PM PT".
Does anyone else think that it might be more sensible to make a success of running our existing club before acquiring another one?
While we now have an excellent training ground and a squad which - jinx alert - finally appears to be of a decent Championship standard, we lose £2m a month, we're miles off being an established Premiership side and our ground, wonderfully atmospheric though it is, is frankly holding us back from both a financial and fanbase perspective.
The last thing we need right now is to lose focus on QPR, especially given Australia, which I have nothing against, is hardly renowned for producing a conveyor belt of quality players.
"somebody has probably suffered as result of it going up peoples hooters".
Unfortunately, illegal activities like the drug trade can be mixed up with all sorts of seemingly unrelated and seriously nasty stuff. It has been proven that drug gangs have traded guns for narcotics.
Cocaine production also results in a huge amount of deforestation in the Amazon.
A student who had the room next to me in hall had a drug related nervous breakdown. His sister had to come to get him, she whisked him away and we never saw him again. I hope he managed to recover and get clean. He'd already wrecked his ankle, having fallen from quite a height while trying to climb down a drainpipe while drugged up.
These things can quickly spin out of control, be careful out there.
