I remember this story from previously but it's great to be reminded of it :
"In 2017 Toner was taken off a League One game between Blackpool and Portsmouth in the wake of a High Court ruling against the Oyston family’s deliberate asset stripping of the club. The PGMOL insisted the switch to Premier League Jon Moss was because of the extra scrutiny on the game and the need for a more experienced official, and nothing to do with Ben Toner’s name which had caused much mirth among the Pool faithful in light of the verdict"
Re. Marillion, I used to live next door to a woman who ended up marrying one of the musicians in the band. When they were starting to establish a real following, he had to decide whether to stick with his 9 to 5 job or jack it in and go on the band's first ever American tour.
I can remember some tutting about "giving up a steady job" but he followed his heart, Marillion made it big and he is still in the band to this day.
Almost every organisation contains people who can't stand each other, but professionalism and commitment to the goals of the organisation can mean it's not a big problem.
I have worked at companies where people were in meeting room arguing so loudly that half the floor could hear them, but things still got done.
I'll admit having these tensions is not ideal but it's not uncommon and it doesn't have to be disastrous.
