He will have no trouble getting another job - his performance has had plenty of mistakes - yet his team has stayed with him - put in the extra effort required - and got a result. It takes time. To build a team. To learn to be a Manager at this level and at Premier League level. Its not just about the level of the squad nor how much money is spent. Look at Everton, Chelsea etc etc. The best clubs give their managers time to evolve. |

Skilful player - great to have ...but On 14 August 2023, Oxlade-Chamberlain signed for Süper Lig club Beşiktaş on a three-year contract. On 21 December 2023 in the match against Alanyaspor, Oxlade-Chamberlain was injured and suffered a tear in his posterior thigh muscle and was expected to be out of action for 4 months. Games this Season = 16 If we do not promoted he is physically incapable of coping with the intense physical demands. He will last less time in a game that Armstrong |

Agree- as at 5 pm yesterday - I was in the Sack The Manager state - especially looking at the nature of the defeat. I was pissed off for sure - at so many aspects of what decisions were made by RM I'm going to try and calm down - and have a think |

The issue that the article is pointing out is that good managers develop and clear method of play - and that they need to be given time for that to build. When you change a manager - there is often a new manager "bounce " - but building a strategy around that - which some clubs seem to have done - does not work. Saints have tended to allow each Manager time to evolve - sometimes they did not. My argument is that RM is building a clear method of play that works - a significant part of the time - and that he deserves the time - including into next season regardless of Promotion |

For this who are unhappy that RM has a clear method of play .....and who feel we should sack our Manager Good article on the eight relegation candidates in the Championship ....the common factor that links them all - They sacked managers repeatedly...and have developed no method of play .... " Eight teams are fighting to avoid two relegation spots with short-term approaches holding them back............... What they have in common is the use of the manager conveyor belt. Few have found any degree of philosophy or style, instead overhauling squads to suit the latest dugout dweller, leaving them gasping for air. " The bottom nine clubs have had 24 managers between them – give or take a caretaker or two – and are reaping what they sowed....................long-term planning is key in football and clubs such as Luton and Nottingham Forest have shown the way out of the Championship " https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2024/apr/19/championship-football-rele |

So I guess it is just FAR too hard for you to try to define where Brexit has ACTUALLY helped us. The constant pattern of Brexit supporters is to keep pretending that " Brexit is Done " - then avoid the benefits question; not take responsibility for what has happened ; point the finger at all other people who question Brexit as Remainers... Another good example here. .......guess we should not be suprised - given that Brexit- In Chief - Boris - does the same thing.....rather like Trump also....bit of a cult really...Blind acceptance ...Blame everyone else |

Agree - there is something in the mentality of the team that is not quite right. Hard to define it exactly. The team played with amazing will to win coming back from one goal down - and they kept going in an amazing game to watch- Saints were non stop going for it - and showing great passing skill and maintaining possession. Lets give some credit for the much of performance. Surely, Martin deserves masses of credit for the way the team played in the bulk of the game. Maybe " defensive intensity " ???? - is the word ? If you slow down the video of game and look at the positions of the Saints players when Ipswich goals were scored. There are enough players back - so its not the possession style that is the issue defensively with each goal. The players back and simply quite sharp enough - not tight and not intense enough. 1st goal - two players ball watching with Bree not at all close to the winger who got the ball to score- and neither did he get in a block on the shot which was also possible. 2nd goal. Players back - Armstrong simply does not get close to the player who scores - does not seem to know what to do when he gets back - yet he makes the effort. 3rd Goal - laughable in that we had plenty players back - three were watching a man on the ground - yet no one got a foot on the ball. Its like they are in a daze when they get back. Is that the Martin effect - everyone is almost drugged to staying calm in possession - yet there is very low defensive intensity when oppo gets the ball. I cannot imagine Romeu sitting back and watching - he was remarkable at getting hold of the ball from oppo in dangerous positions. We seem to have a team that lacks that intensity or nous. Its not any particular individual |

I'm definitely over it :) Yet should we just forget all the lies that were used on so many issues - Immigration, Trading agreements, the NHS...... Election Success were based on this set of lying assertions by a small sect in the Tory party. This article simply and clearly outlines another "Brexit Benefit " - from being the 1st major trading nation to make a trading agreement with another trading bloc that puts in barriers to trade, barriers to the flow of ideas, barriers to the flow of people - making our economy a less attractive place to invest. I understand that this must be painful for Brexiteers. Far better to forget. Please do not blame Remainers for pointing this out. |

There is no defence nor any acceptance through " grains of truth " for his comments - he compared a football commentator to Fred & Rose West - who murdered at least 12 people - whilst carrying out rape, bondage, torture and mutilation. This has then resulted in tirades for further threats and abuse being directed at the commentator. I feel sure that no one seeks to justify this - and most remarks here are totally critical of Barton. However, maybe it is worth considering that if we use this site or this thread to then discuss and compare male and female commentators when such a vile comment is made - simply helps Barton justify his own appalling values. Maybe I should not even post this remark - as it just adds more fuel to his hate. |

These comments remind me of what folks used to say about Le Tissier or Osgood .......strolling about..... How about we give him a break. He's only 21 - moved to a strange country......foreign language.....playing football that is totally different from the way he has played in France. It takes time to adjust. His movement is excellent in terms of positions he takes up and how he positions to receive the ball.....not in terms of how many miles he runs....he has scored two goals against Man City.......they are not exactly defenders who make it easy... |

Tempting to blame back four when goals go in - however agree with comments that the issue lies more with the team structures and getting right fit of players- especially in midfield - given the increase in high press and attacking play. Our Manager wants to hold the ball and consistently look for ball to attack - which is great to watch and is leading to goals - where before we were struggling to score. However, that puts much more pressure and exposure on back four regardless of who they are. Stephens played well for Bournemouth who stayed up - he is intelligent, can bring the ball out and talks to other players. Bednarek is a highly aggressive marking CB. The bigger issue for current strategies are top quality midfield Holding players - great situational awareness, physical presence, able to play out under great pressure. Romeu is classic example ( left cheaply ) now at Barcelona. Prices for Caicedo and Lavia also show what's happening. We are loosing quality holding midfielders due to prices now being paid. Who do we have to do the job - we currently have some excellent attacking midfielders ?? Which full backs can play in our new system ?? |
