It was a great bit of skill for the second from an elite Championship / potentially decent Prem winger. Dragged out wide because Mbengue died about two minutes earlier.

The first is far more frustrating. Kick someone if you have to and take the card but can’t have both CBs losing challenges like that. Mentally switched off perhaps thinking the job was done.

I reckon they’ll make it a ‘bubble’ fixture somehow. Force them on a train from London Bridge to Pudding Mill Lane and stop home fans using the station. Will be some fun regardless. Can probably hire one of the empty Stratford flats and watch before the game as some sort of Premium Hammer package.

Also worth noting there was very little to stop people jibbing in other than the sheer rigmarole of getting that far. My not QR code code thing didn’t work and the bloke just pressed a button on his side and buzzed me in. Was busy in the middle of the lower tier.

Platform was busy but no issue getting onto the first train out of there and as mentioned it’s a much shorter walk to the away end than Stratford. One to remember for next season.

Out of interest, as a data nerd, does anyone know if a record is kept of distances covered by players at our level like you can get for the Prem?

GREAT EFFORT TODAY.......
at 21:07 11 Jan 2026

Was a bit disappointed tbh even taking into account the injuries. First half we were very poor when they were also very poor. Obviously a horrific time to concede and such an avoidable goal. Competed much better second half but then their fitness was so much better than ours. We have good facilities, train as often as they do and they had a game midweek. We’ve discussed our injuries to death but the stamina of some of them seems poor. A fitter team quite possibly goes on to nick it.

Great day before and all that. Great celebrations for the goal, some good individual performances but came away feeling it was a real missed opportunity more than a brave performance.

No Jubilee line obviously didn’t help but they intentionally make it such a ballache getting you in. Glad we decided to err on the side of caution and made our way from Farringdon early. I’m sure plenty missed KO. Walk round the long way, security check like you’re going into a prison, another security check, sniffer dog. Unfortunately expect it’ll be the norm at big grounds.

Went back from Pudding Mill Lane rather than Stratford and it was a lot better.

I think the day we move to a Pride Park sort of ground nowhere near much is the day I pack it in.

tickets for Stoke away
at 12:57 9 Jan 2026

Stoke is very much one of those I won’t fancy until the day then I’ll roll out of bed at 8 and think actually yeah let’s do it. Except you can’t because it’s all-ticket for no logical reason whatsoever. As if hundreds are going to turn up without tickets and stage some sort of military coup on the Bet365 Oatcake Megadome.

In the League cup there’s no VAR at all then they bring it in from the semi-finals.

W Ham losing last night good or bad thing?
at 11:55 7 Jan 2026

Assuming he lasts that long, I wonder if they’ve had a word and agreed the game against us more or less doesn’t matter and to focus on the league game after (Spurs I think). They’ll not be happy if they sack it off but the board aren’t going to give a toss about a cup run so I don’t see them risking the key players i.e. Bowen as nobody else available is particularly key. New signings will probably play, Wan-Bissaka is knocked out the AFCON but I’d imagine won’t.

They’ll still have a £20m goalkeeper and a team that cost north of £100m out even if it’s not worth £100.

No but it seems, just based on the little I’ve read, that this was much more the referee being a jobsworth (or just didn’t fancy it) than any negligence from Hull. Frost around the pitch looked much the same as lots of games that went ahead.

It’s the ref’s call anyway but Hull clearly went to quite a lot of effort to get the pitch into a good state so I’m not buying the conspiracy theory. Though if Louza leaves it’s a big blow for them.

Leicester v West Brom has a real El Sackico vibe tonight. Barely 10,000 in the ground.

Think without Burrell, Smyth’s inclusion is more necessary as an outlet especially in a game like this. RND not cup-tied but no idea if Sheff U have given us permission to play him. Given he’s not been recalled yet it seems likely he’ll be available unless I’ve missed something. Regardless of the other ten picked you’ll know if it’s being taken seriously or not if Esquerdinha starts.

See West Ham are bringing some players in likely to make their debuts in this which also suggests the manager will survive at least long enough for our game. They’ve got a huuuuuuge game on Tuesday.

They had heat lamps on from midday which apparently didn’t do the trick and it looks much like just about every match that did go ahead in the North. Bizarre.

Funny for those who dislike Watford and more so knowing loads will have jumped on the bandwagon as it’s the sort of game they’d normally struggle to fill a coach for.

Hull v Watford postponed at 2:40 because the pitch was fine but there was ice around the dugouts. The away fans should have burned the place to the ground.

Neither do I but the alternatives aren’t exactly smashing the door down for his spot. He’s an inconsistent one for sure and in poor form but the squad is certainly better for him being fit if not always the XI.
