great entertainment !
at 00:30 12 Aug 2012

I haven't posted on a forum since before keith hill was appointed manager of the dale , was great to see hilly and flicker back at the dale today , loved them both as players for the dale and their tenure as management team was the most exciting and succesful in our history .
It was also interesting to look at the barnsley team today with so many " rochdale rejects " in the team and thinking that when we were in our pomp under hill we had a better team than they have now , and they are playing in the championship !
Weve been very lucky as rochdale fans in recent years to watch such great players as grant holt , glen murray , adam le fondre , rickie lambert , will buckley , chris dagnall , chris ogrady and dorothy perkins .
I think john coleman has assembled a decent side , first game ive seen this year so i cant fairly criticise any of the players , first half was notable for the energy and tackling in midfield , barnsley were slow out of the blocks and struggled to cope , we should have gone 2-0 up after a quality move just needed a better header from grimes .
second half barnsley went up a gear and controlled the play , our left back was struggling badly with etuhu and must have been thrilled when he was subbed .
they took a deserved lead after a lillis gaffe and we looked out of it until their keeper chimed in with his madness ,
we were caught by sucker punches in the first period of extra time but the second period was a great effort from a tiring team . we created loads of chances unfortunately we drilled most of them straight at the keeper .
really enjoyable game. i hope coleman is allowed to strengthen a bit further because with that spirit we could do well , really well .
