New Goalkeeper

Vorm has done well for us in the past but he seems to get injured quite a lot and I don't think Tremmel is good enough to be a consistent premier league goalkeeper (plus he's too old). Personally I'd like us to try and get a first team goalkeeper in the summer, Kasper Schmeichel from Leicester is available on a free this summer but has been linked to massive clubs (Utd, Milan ) or Timo Horn seems like a prospect in Bundesliga 2 but they'll probably get promoted this season so it might be hard to get him. Gregor Zabret seems to get hyped up quite a bit, anyone think he could be an understudy to Vorm?

Yeah I think the point I was trying to make is that other clubs have spent quite a lot on hyped up players and it hasn't worked out mainly because of their managers, Pablo and Gaston at Southampton Van Wolfswinkel at Norwich, and we got lucky that Bony's come in and done well for us. No idea how this is relevant to the OP's post, probably should stay away from posting on this forum after a couple of jars!

I agree when Adkins first got sacked the reaction from fans and media was almost completely negative but Pochettino has proven them all wrong. I really think Monk can do the same thing, he must have developed working with Rodgers and Martinez and hopefully he'll have the same effect that Pochettino had at Southampton. I think everyone who thinks that Monk won't be able to get the signings forgets that Pochettino spent 12 mil on gaston ramirez last summer, sometimes it's better to develop your own players (lallana, shaw, chambers) than buying attractive names in the summer.

Academy Players, is there another Ben Davies?

Looking at our academy players, is there anyone who is going to do what Ben did and hold down a first team position? I don't think that players like Jazz Richards and Kurtis March could become first team regulars, Zabret might be the only one that has a chance. I'd like us to get some good young welsh players next season, Jonny Williams has been impressive for Wales (reminds me a bit of Barkley) but never had a chance playing under Pulis so he got shipped out to Ipswich. Also I think a loan move for Emyr Huws from Man City next season would be really good for us, he's been doing well for Birmingham and could learn a lot from Leon

I think that the pressure of playing in the premier league is why so many of us are concerned about appointing Garry. I think we've gambled on young managers before and it has generally turned out well for us, but now we obviously have a lot more to lose if things doesn't work out for Monks. Personally I don't really think that there are any available managers out there who could do better and we should stick with Monks and let him develop as a manager. With regards to transfers apparently Aubameyang (currently at Dortmund) would of joined us in the summer because of laudrup but we couldn't afford to play him, it's not about the players we can attract, it's about the players Huw is willing to pay for.

I think it's because Southampton are known to have a good youth academy and develop their own players and the media love that more than how successful a season a team has. To be fair bale did come through the Southampton academy so you can understand why the media would make comparisons between him and Bale. Also I've read quite a few media articles saying it's good that we're probably going to stay for the neutral's sake because we play good football, better than what they were saying about stoke last season!
