Desperate Tories - or tactical masterstroke?
at 15:08 23 Apr 2024

Immigration policy in this country has never been good. The Immigration Acts of the nineties were failures and this current attempt is nothing but a sensational costly gimmick to try to win votes at the general election this year.

There’s always going to be immigration and there sadly will always be people trying to come to safe countries to claim asylum due to war and there will always be people wanting to come to the country for economic reasons.

There’s currently a massive backlog of cases to be processed, is that because of the numbers or because of the poor processes and lack of investment into getting it done properly? I’m guessing that having an appropriately funded sensible immigration process doesn’t make great news and doesn’t win votes.

FA Cup Replays scrapped - Winter break gone
at 08:40 20 Apr 2024

Completely agree. Three years ago to the day that they snakey six tried to form their own league, they pull this stunt. To this day none of the 6 clubs have faced any penalties and City and Chelsea have been charged but not convicted. Last week Chelsea sold a hotel to themselves to navigate the PSR, all with the PL’s blessing.

But this has to be the final straw, the utter contempt that they have for the game on this country shouldn’t be accepted. Every other club should boycott the cup next season and start making plans to kick these clubs out of the game.

Football was established for the working classes in the 19th century as a release from the working week for leisure. It’s now geared up for nerds abroad to follow a brand with no identify, no understanding of the communities that the clubs are in. Phuck them.

Also regarding Saints or other clubs putting out statements, Everton were the first and most vocal to criticize the ESL and have been the main club to have been panned by the sneaky six. No surprises with Masters in the back pocket of Man U and Liverpool.

Everton Loan repayment Deadline 5am Tuesday Morning
at 18:17 16 Apr 2024

If Everton were to go into administration someone will be able to buy a club with a brand new stadium and 50k clowns willing to part with their money every year on the cheap. The biggest losers will be the fans, the community with the loss of jobs and Moshiri (not at least arsed about him).

Someone will make a killing on it. I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that (obviously) and hope they MSP complete a deal as they were in line to take over before they fell out with Moshiri true to form went with the dodgiest of options which has been a reflection of his bat shit ways in the past few years.

I keep seeing in the media various pundits and fans of other clubs saying that Everton would be better off going into administration. That turns my stomach more than anything that goes on on the pitch. Administration would mean loads of people losing their jobs at the club and within the community which would be unthinkable, as both Saints and Pompey know only too well.

These 777 chancers fill me with dread and I am hoping that they are unsuccessful. The best case scenario would be that MSP come back into the frame, as has been suggested. They are a consortium lead by two loaded blues including AJ Bell.

Either way, it’s a complete mess and the joy that I have from going the game is almost gone.

Watching the Chelsea game last night knowing that they are completely untouchable from PSR is sickening as was the lack of mention from Sky. I

Everton Deducted Another 2 Points

By delusions of grandeur, do you mean showing ambition? Or should every club outside the snaky six know their place, suck it up, clap like whoppers when the big boys come to town with our ‘please Harland can I have your shirt banners’.

I’m almost part caring to be honest. Nobody knows what is going on, how they come up with their calculations, how City and Chelsea get a free hit to do what they want. Everton are building a stadium and a lot of the spend is involved in that. Spurs built a stadium under the same PSR rules but were allowed to include their stadium costs into this process.

But it’s okay because they are scrapping it in the summer to bring out a new process that will benefit the snaky six.

You’ve got to love the beautiful game.

The Price OF A Pint
at 13:12 5 Apr 2024

In the pub I’m going to tomorrow, the Cheppy on County Road, they don’t have a set price for a pint. When you order one pint, you had in a fiver and get a couple of quid back, it’s a tenner when you ask for three and five to six pints you will need a twenty pound note and the change varies not just from barmaid to barmaid*, but from the same barmaid depending on nothing in particular.

It’s cash only and is always a source of amusement.

* are we allowed to say barmaids now?

Branthwaite is a top, top defender and will go onto win loads of England caps, but he needs to sign for one of the snaky six before this will happen.

Is it all sunshine and roses for football players?
at 14:21 25 Mar 2024

Until last year, I spent eight and a half years working in football (for the EFL Trust) and spent most weeks with one club or another up and down the country. It’s a brutal business. Obviously if you are one of top percentage who remain injury and relatively trouble free, the riches are beyond what most ‘normal’ people can imagine.

But as you say, there are loads that don’t make it who end up with no qualifications, no career options and no support. Loads within the game don’t get the right advice or support, even when offered it by the PFA. Many are one injury away from leaving themselves in a vulnerable situation. Careers advice just isn’t there, despite what the PFA might say and the pressure from parents, family, agents etc can be unbearable. I’ve spoken to players who were told not to mention mental health issues to the club for fear that they wouldn’t be given a new contract. These were young players told by their agents.

And then there’s the peer pressure from fellow players.

As I say, it’s a brutal business that is not a reflection on society or a normal workplace.

Saints Players You Have Met In Strange Surroundings
at 08:06 16 Mar 2024

I lived opposite MLT when he was down in Ocean Village. Had a nice chat with him one Boxing Day morning on my way home from work as he was sitting on his door step.

Chatted to Beattie a few years back in the London Hotel. To be fair, always saw him in the bars around Oxford Street, and he was always dead sound.

Ronald Koeman, his brother and their partner were always in Oxford and often in the London too. Always seemed dead sound, and bladdered.

As a student, always used to see the players out en masse around Bedford Place/Ocean Village.

Brighton thrashed
at 21:37 7 Mar 2024

They will be the ‘new’ Southampton. A well run respected club who will have their players, manager, director of sport, scouts, nutritionalists, physios, kitman, and tea lady all tapped up to go to one of the snidey six.

Brighton will get patronized but they will get asset stripped, whilst no one will stop them.

Leicester points deduction?
at 19:37 7 Mar 2024

FFP applies only to clubs outside of the big 6 and then allows the big 6 to asset strip those clubs buying their best players on the cheap when they are forced to sell.

Leicester, Wolves and Villa could all be subjected to punishment for a ruling that will be scrapped in August for another that will no doubt be set up to give an advantage to the big 6.

I’ve come to terms with City and their ridiculous, untouchable set up, but Chelsea massively piss me off. The amount that they’ve been allowed to spend in the past year or so without scrutiny is shocking. Has the 50 million Lavia even played for them yet?

Other Championship scores tonight...

I was at the first leg, it was the most drunk I’ve ever been before the 3pm. Didn’t the game kick off at 11am? I remember being in the pub for 8.30 like one of those wetherspoons stalwarts.

The Polish lad up from, Saganowski (?) should have had a hatful, I think.

Why we are not good enough.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s a cartel, just look at Villa. Got a great manager, got a great squad, knocking on the door of the top four, looks like they’ve broken the frankly PSR rules nd will probably have to sell in the summer to try and escape punishment.

No doubt their players will be sold on the cheap to the likes of Chelsea who can pretty much do what the bloody hell they like.

Team in red and white concede more than 9?
at 07:25 5 Mar 2024

At least when Saints lost their two nine nillers, there was a genuine excuse of having players sent off early on. That was awful from Sheffield Utd. I do feel for their fans, they are absolutely hating being in the PL. They’ve spent the season largely getting mocked or ignored. I know a few blades and they cant wait to be back in the championship away from the cockfestthat is the PL.

Xenophobia Of English managers
at 11:25 2 Mar 2024

Pochetino has won bigger all but has already managed Spurs, Chelsea and has been linked with the United job in the past. If Gary McNeill was a foreign manager he would definitely be linked with jobs at the slimy six, he did brilliant at Bournemouth and is doing a great job at Wolves.

Everton’s point deduction reduced
at 20:06 26 Feb 2024

I honestly don’t understand the game anymore. I’ve been going the game since I was seven and had a season ticket for the vast majority of my life, yet get talked down on by people who have never set in a football stadium spend their entire lives banging on about high blocks, low blocks, transitions, false nines, number tens, DCM’s. They are all financial experts too.

It’s all my arse. That’s why I love going to watch Eastleigh, far more enjoyable.

The whole thing is a mess and the lack of transparency is showing the PL to be amateurs. This season has been a ball ache and the enjoyment of the game is being hoovered. Throw in the Klopp testimonial season, Man City’s 115 breach yet no date for their hearing, Chelsea spending more in six months than Everton have in five years but that’s okay, United about to come back into their snidey ways asking for government money for their theatre of dreams makeover and it’s bloody horrid.

He will be picking up £70k a week whilst chewing sitting on a bench at a championship* team, the empty headed dope. That was a disgusting challenge. I’d imagine his team mates aren’t too impressed with him.

*hopefully not Everton.

Super Bowl
at 12:09 12 Feb 2024

I was over there a few years back when the New York Giants won it, the whole weekend was geared up for it and it was brilliant. The whole country seemed to tap into it, every bar was packed. I have loads of American family and they all make an occasion of it, regardless of who is in the final.

I can remember the FA Cup final over here having a similar appeal when I was a kid. The first one I proper remember was the 1981. My dad used to send the smaller kids out with my mum for the day, whilst all his mates cam round with ale, there’d be a sweep for first goals, bets on final score etc. it was great. I can’t remember when it became massively shit, but would hazard a guess at the late nineties. The pull of the big 6, using Wembley for the semis, the same dull teams winning it every year, silly kick off times.
