![]() Monday, 2nd Mar 2009 15:12 Saints have announced some ticket price cuts as well as season ticket news. Firstly Saints have announced that they are delaying announcing season ticket details until April, the reason given that they wont know what division they are in till then. In the shorter term the club have announced ticket offers for three forthcoming home games, firstly season ticket holders can buy extra tickets for the Derby game next tuesday for the knockdown price of £5. On April 4th Charlton come to St Mary's and its £15 for adults and £5 for kids again then for the visit of Crystal Palace on Easter Monday kids can get in for £1. On the face of it its a good idea to attract supporters to the games, however on the other hand it is devalueing season tickets, some would say even rewarding those fans that have deserted the club in its hour of need. Many season ticket holders have complained about the number of evening matches, indeed for the Sheffield united match most out of town supporters struggled to get to the match, with these two games it means a saving of £40 when added to the Forest game for an adult supporter, a season ticket holder paying £480 a year for his ticket would only have been around £30 better off than if he had paid for every game with these discounts, but if he misses two games then he has paid more. Of course for those that took the March madness tickets they are still much better off, but the fact is its the perception of the deal and whilst many appreciate that we need a full stadium, there will be resentment that at a time when the club needs money, those who have deserted will benefit. Still the incentive is there for the stay aways, certainly most will know a season ticket holder for the game against the Rams, so there is no excuse for there to be a crowd of less than 20,000, on Saturday the cardiff game saw an extra 2,500 Saints fans in the ground after factoring in the away support, proving that its results that matter to a fair chunk of the fans and not the Rupert Lowe factor. Whatever the thoughts of season ticket holders the carrot has been fdangled in front of the stayaways, lets see them take it.
