![]() Thursday, 1st Apr 2010 06:52 David Edgar is keen to be involved in the Welsh derby Saturday and maybe a kick or two against Michael Chopra...! The on loan Swansea City defender has crossed the path of Cardiff City striker Chopra before and says he is a 'good lad' but is still quite happy to give him the odd kick on - and off - the pitch! Speaking to the Western Mail with the big game fast approaching, Edgar said “I’ve known Chops for a while and played with him quite a bit when he was at Newcastle “He was a couple of years older than me but coming through the ranks together our paths crossed plenty of times. “He’s a good lad but he’s definitely someone you don’t mind giving a kick – and that’s not just on the pitch! “It will be good to go up against him if I get the nod. “I was born in Canada but my family were from the area and my dad played for Newcastle, so I was always a Newcastle fan “So playing in the derby with Sunderland was a big moment. “But the rivalry between Cardiff and Swansea is just as fierce. I’ve watched the last few of the derbies on television and you can tell what the game means to everyone involved. “Obviously, the size of the crowd is going to be smaller compared to what you get at St James’ Park or the Stadium of Light – but it’s going to be some atmosphere regardless. I’m sure it’s going to be loud and electric and something to look forward to. “They are massive games and I’m excited to be part of the build-up and hopefully I can be involved in the game itself. “Whichever way you look at it it’s a massive three points for the club,” he said. “The table speaks for itself but nobody’s thinking about the play-offs and getting ahead of ourselves. It’s about taking one game at a time and focussing on Saturday.” Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
