Elyounoussi Only Injury Doubt For Trip To Goodison park
Thursday, 16th Aug 2018 15:26

Mark Hughes has confirmed that he has almost a complete squad to select from for the Weekend's trip to Merseyside.

Mark Hughes has confirmed that Stuart Armstrong has shrugged off the knock that forced him off during Sunday's home draw with Burnley, however another of the summer's new signings is looking doubtful.

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's game against Everton Hughes said:

"At the moment, apart from maybe Moi at the weekend, we’ve got everyone fit and available"

“Stuart Armstrong got a knock but he looks ok and has trained today so I don’t anticipate him missing out."

“Moi Elyounoussi got a bit tense in his hamstring. He trained with the physios and went better than the physios thought but we will see how he is."

“Even if he doesn’t have a reaction there is a feeling maybe we err on the side of safety but we will see.”

"We have a 25-man squad and it’s there to last the whole season. We’ll lose players to injuries and suspensions at times but for the most part now everyone is ready to go. "

"That’s a good thing on many levels but obviously you end up disappointing players who haven’t done anything wrong but would hope to be involved. It's a nice problem to have."

Hughes is right it is a squad game these days and he is not short of options for the trip to Goodison with his only real problem being to decide whether to play 3 at the back of revert to a back four.

Pity, Elyounoussi is the one creative, forward minded player I would consider vital.
I hope he plays.

Common sense approach here MH. Even if he has " recovered" hamstring problems can occur / flare up at any time, so better to be safe than sorry .

If necessary he can come off the bench in the 95th minute (!)...and score the winning goal.
