Hasenhuttl Will Rotate The Squad To Keep It Fresh ! Thursday, 3rd Jan 2019 22:25 Ralph Hasenhuttl has spoken of how although he respects the FA Cup he needs to rotate his squad to keep it fresh. The Austrian manager has already spoken of how he wants his squad to be full of fitness and running, but he also knows that whilst he ups the tempo in training to get the players fitter, that it will take it's toll meaning that players will have to be rested, especially after a tough Xmas programme. So far in the main the rotation has paid off with youngsters like Yan Valery coming in and doing a job, this means that Hasenhuttl has no qualms about throwing in youngsters when the situation merits and after a tough week that will see Saints travel to Derby County for their 3rd game in 6 days the Saints boss knows that the week will have taken it's toll. "It means we'll look to rotate again, and to bring in fresh players," the Austrian confirmed. "We want to keep the tempo at a high level and therefore we need fresh players. "It's not about young or old, I decide based on fresh or tired. The last fight against Chelsea was a huge one, and it cost energy. "Matt Targett was rested and he'll come back I think. We also have to substitute Maya Yoshida, who will be playing for Japan. "I guarantee I will send a team on the pitch who is well prepared, focused, with a willingness to win." The good news is that in the main Hasenhuttl can rotate, he has a big squad with quality and there seems to be another rush of youngsters coming through chomping at the bit for a chance and when they get it taking it. Rotating isn't Saints problem as we know there needs to be someone coming in to the squad in the centre of defence in January, sort that area out and the season will get a whole lot better.
