I find it incredible that people take any notice of betting markets when it comes to transfers, that has to be the biggest con out there. Every day they make one club a red hot favorite to sign someone, idiots lump on it and then the players goes somewhere else. Betting suspended on Cesar to Leeds yesterday, lets see if he ends up there.

As Dave B says the betting on transfers is basically pick a number, divide by 5 add 2,....random. Betting suspended on ceasar and club ep on LCI last night conformed there hadn't even been any contact.

I can't understand the negative attitude towards Crouch - he would be a great signing.
Young hungry players? If they are any good they won't come to us unless they are given silly money. Crouch is still doing the business in the Premiership. He has not lost any pace as he didn't have any to begin with. His injury record is pretty good and has delivered at every club he has played for. He is reliant on his height, movement and nouse and will therefore still be playing at the top level for 3 or 4 years to come.

Well this year there is no real rush or panic so I'm quite happy for them to get the right players and if they don't become available then sign no one. We always have the loan market until March if we are desperate | | | |

Quashie wasn't still playing and scoring in the Prem when we resigned him. A better comparison might be Gallen. He wasn't as good second time around but certainly did an important job for us. |  |

Signing Crouch defies all logic and everything that TF has learnt.
We play with one striker, we don't score goals from midfield, our deadball is lamentable, he has nigh on 18 months left on his contract so will attract a fee of over £2 Million and possibly the same in paying off his contract, he has never been a high scorer but seems to be finding the net less and less...this is a crazy idea and although as a QPR and Crouch fan it has some flavour of better times about it, a signing like this has far too much of Shaun Wright Phillips, Andy Johnson, BZ, etc, etc, about it.
It can only be agent activity and guess work by the papers....there's a range of alternatives and they are all better than signing PC.....in addition I cannot see anybody from QPR even speaking to Stoke and their meticulous Manager. | | | |

People had SWP and Park had been warming the bench of their big clubs before they came to us.
Crouch has played 23 times for Stoke this season - no idea how many of those he's started, but he's been a living, breathing, contributing player unlike some of the corpses in our squad. He's still a clever player who could do well at Champ level and contribute for another year if we go up.
He wouldn't be the Messiah but he wouldn't be a naughty bot either. |  | | |

All true Brooklyn, love Crouch, I just hope that we either leave the money in the bank or find a couple of young players who have some future.
If it was 18 months on and Crouch was at the end of his contract and wanted to be close to Isleworth studios, was still 32 years old, and arrived on a free, I'd welcome him as the messiah, no doubt he'd walk across the Thames....I just think we need or want him right now.... Yeah I know what you're saying, Foot. The worry has got to be what would happen to us if Austin picked up a niggle and was out, even for as little as 3 weeks?
AJ looked suddenly badly off the pace in the last game and we know all about Zamora sadly.
The other options that the papers are going on about are Ntep - who looks like Hoilett with an O-Level, and this lad Bedolfil who is interesting but not much of a goal scorer either.
The Icelandic fella looks quality and we've got no chance it seems.
I'm just assuming that TF is going to sanction the splashing of cash in one direction or another so it's more a matter of hoping it works out. | | | |

I'm a safety first merchant in my football philosophy, so we lose Austin, there are no goals in any of the midfield or defense, no goals from deadballs.
Buying Crouch as we currently play; successful, and automatic place form (this week) Crouch only improves the bench it doesn't improve the starting line-up.
We need a specialist striker who attacks and defends from the front on his own, I don't think TF's mindset or HR's wants any more additions to the squad right now, I think a single signing of a specialist would suffice up top.
There's bigger gaps in MF and at Right Back.
Who the striker is, that we can sign, I'm not sure, but I'am sure it's not Peter James Crouch, I'd take Kevin Doyle on loan, he could cover for Austin, aggressive, works hard, and can lead a line on his own, might have 25 games left in those knee's and Irish!
You could play Austin and Doyle up top in a QPR style 442, by which i mean a 442 that delivers no crosses.....Ha! | | | |
