Poor Vargas, now playing centre forward on his own. Unless we somehow we can control the midfield he's going to watch the ball flying over his head all night.

I suppose it depends partly on how close Fer is to him to help him out.

Vargas does seem to have some springs on him, and he's got that Michael Jordan tattoo which has to mean something shirley?

Should be interesting (with a high probability of a painful ending.)

I give up....

Why?

We don't have a point away, don'r forget.

Graphic suggests Fer through the middle , which we haven't tried.

Fer will be the target man, when we go long, and then Vargas will be running in behind, which could work with Distin and PJ. Really hope JH has a good game

Got to give Harry credit for changing it up a bit. Pace on the wings could work, and were definitely trying to bulk up the midfield. Although Vargas is isolated, i still hope it could work

Makes sense to me. Hoilett and Phillips will push Baines and Coleman back which is where a lot of their goals come from.

At least we look like we're having a go. Fer has his big chance to play in his preferred spot so could be interesting.

We have pace on the wings, and I'm looking forward to seeing Vargas in a central position. This game will come down to the three centre-mids. If they can get good ball to a very small front three we will be in with a good chance, if not, we're sunk...

That is a weird selection. Tombola back out again?
Can kind of see it - two fast wingers playing to counteract their threat down the wings. Mutch and Fer breaking to support Vargas up front.
Attacking options there. I never thought I'd say this, but we might miss Henry!

A little mobility and pace is worth a try. A big issue with the away games has been no counter-attack threat. Once teams realise that we can't pass through them or get in behind them quickly in transition they get very comfortable.

At least Hoilett and Phillips potentially provide that. A central 3 of Barton, Mutch and Fer has the chance of at least being able to do something with the ball compared to a 2 of Barton and Henry.

Also have to hope that there has actually been some training ground work on how to play in this system and utilise its strengths. ie observing a plan to move the ball out of defense that doesn't end in Dunne/Ned wacking it upfield as though Bobby Z were playing. Bit optimistic?

He was tying to post the image, he gave up doing that.

I had predicted 2-1 to us then came to my senses and think the best we can hope for is 1-0, limiting the damage.

Looking forwards to this one. 0-1 Ranger, Vargas early doors then we park the bus and hang on for 70 mins.

Encouraging team selection. It hasn't worked without pace, so why not try it with? Think if Phillips and Hoilett are on their game could be the difference. Don't know if I've seen enough to think they will be though.

tbf Paul i think Hoop was more giving up on his computer skills than HR's team selection, think he has had 3 attempts at listing the team!
Stick at it HdJ - if Harry picks the same team for Saturday you'll have it sussed by then (i know there's a flaw in what i have said....)

Well, be interesting to see how this one pans out. Disappointed he's dropped henry and not Barton would also like to have seen Zamorra up front with Vargas . Worry that Vargas will end up isolated and see little of the ball and with no other outlet we may end up pinned back - hope I'm wrong!

If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled. PG Wodehouse
