Not quite sure why, as the evidence doesn't exactly provide an irrefutable case for it, but I have a good feeling in my bones about wor Jimmy. I think he's going to be a real positive influence on our club.
I like the cut of his jib. I think he's garnering a good feeling around the squad and an atmosphere of professionalism and positivity.
The next four months will be interesting and pivotal.
On another matter, we've got to build the team around Chery.

Credit too him after a difficult start, he has stuck to his guns, steadied the ship, calmed everybody down (almost), built on the good things that had been put in place before he arrived, sorted out some of who he wants and who is surplus and is continuing to improve things for the future.

I'm encouraged. We're working much harder which shows he has the respect of the players, we've shipped out some dossers, we're fitter, our form is play-off form and we're playing some - some - good football in parts. All this despite a limited squad, and all this at a time when most mid-table footballers have packed it in.

We don't lose very often at all now - three defeats in 15 - and we're awkward opponents for home teams as we've shown by not losing the sort of northern away matches we usually roll over and die in. We're also seeing a useful partnership growing between Polter and Chery - two players previously weren't getting much of a look in.
But it's a big season next season. The end of the parachute payments looms into view. We either need to get promoted, or at least look like we're capable of doing so so the ticket revenue keeps coming in. There are still lots and lots of issues with the team - basically the whole back four is still TBC, the central midfielders and the wingers likewise. We're also strugglign to integrate Washington who didn't come cheaply. Really the only certainty and solidity around the starting 11 for next season is our lovely competent goalkeeper. |  | | |

I'd say that there are some solid foundations for a decent team/squad in place already.
Decent goalkeeper, Hall + Onuoha (we need to bring in a 'traditional british centre half' type figure to challenge both of those to up their game in order to earn the right to start; and we need to STOP playing Chief at full back).
As widely acknowledged we need a dynamic central midfielder - ideally in the Dele Alli mould - young, energetic, can tackle, can play the 'quarterback' type role spraying passes and dictating play. But then again, who doesn't want a player like that. Maybe Jimmy can be 'the Diakite Whisperer' through the summer?!
And we need to move Phillips on, keep Junior on a reduced wage, and play Chery, Washington and El K behind Polter, swarming all over the oppositions defence - pressing highly and generally maintaining a high amount of pressure on the oppo whenever they get the ball.
Oh and in other news I'd like world peace, an unlimited supply of Pale Ale, and an open invitation from Kelly Brook for some sordid dalliances. | | | |

Lots of ifs, buts and maybes. Crucial we ship out Sandro, Fer and Caulker (the latter will be particularly difficult). Clearing them and the likes of Diakite, Troare Hoillett off the wage bill alone will save us around 200k a week in wages.
Nucleus is fairly decent though. Smithies, Robinson (please God stay fit), Hall, Luongo, Chery, Polter and Washington is a decent set up. Ingram, Onouha, Henry, Hill, Faurlin, Perch, Mackie reasonable back up, providing some re sign. If we sell Phillips I think It may mean a tweak in formation to go with Washington and Chery behind Polter in a 4-3-2-1. But it's crucial that we sign a reasonably experienced centre half and midfielder who talk and lead. And with 3 in midfield our full backs can get forward and cross a ball. We've had a fairly decent couple of transfer windows in a row. Get this one right, I think we'll be challenging. | | | |

He's doing alright, as well as can be expected really and you can see new ideas on fitness which has been criminally lacking for so bloody long now.
One key area I reckon he needs to get right in the summer is a team leader to be his Mr reliable and his voice out on the field of play. I believe all successful teams especially at this level have that one player. QPR seemed to have been lacking this for a while stupidly thinking Barton was it but we all know he let the team down more then he galvanised it.

New deal means clubs will be able to pay silly money and keep decent players and not play them, just in case.

The time to judge Jimmy is not yet. He is still wading through the dross of the last four years, which includes such things as poor preseason preparations, poorly acquired players, poorly motivated players and a cancer of couldn't careless among the playing staff.
Since he has come in, the signs of improvement are more than visible. He has a long way to go, but then again, so does QPR! I think given time and support, both financial and vocal, he could well do this.
The fact that we look fitter and have played well of late, is down to him and his team. A few more wastrels shown the door and some of his choices shown in, let's see where we are this time next year. I'd definitely fancy us to be between 12-15 points better off at this stage next year.

one thing that I like about Jimmy, is that he usually picks a team that most of us would agree with. I have got so frustrated in the past with manager after manager leaving our best players out, or playing people out of position. Generally you cant really argue with the teams he puts out there. With a few good additions in the summer, we should be in the mix next year.
