I don’t know I’ve never attended but thankfully being “incredibly offensive” isn’t a crime yet. And saying the kickitout group isn’t political is like saying Pepsi isn’t fizzy. It’s 2018 not 1818 the myth that we live in a racist, sexist, homophobic society must be propagated otherwise a hell of a lot of people working in the professional victim industry would be out of work. The black family that had racist graffiti painted on their house last week in milnrow, must have escaped from olden times then. Of course a lot of people are still homophonic, sexist and racist. Up until recently people kept these views quiet, your alt right chums are making it fashionable again though | |

I agree with some of that and disagree with other bits of that. There was plenty of support for the Monarchy in the Russian civil war too either way they didn’t end up any better off under communist leadership in fact much worse.

You get people every now and again mention that a very low proportion of Rochdale's British-Asian population attend football matches (as is also said of Bradford City). That we have people chanting in support of hate figures like Robinson might explain why things won't improve any time in the near future. We've got an "untapped" group of potential supporters, why would we want to make that group feel unwelcome at Spotland? What they are trying to do is paint some sort of equalism between groups like the EDL and Jihadists. The two don’t compare in terms of evilness or acts of barbarity commited. Singing a few tasteless songs about the fact that Mohammad was probably a pedophile just doesn’t stack up with suicide bombing and female genitalia mutilation.
When polled it turns out fifty one percent of young Muslims in Britain believe in the death penalty for gay people. Gays have been thrown under the bus by the left just like Labour have thrown Jewish people under the bus. Why it’s seen as racist old fashioned and stodgy to criticise Islam while progressive and liberal to defend it and cozy up to throat slitters like hamas beats me

We were all assured by the commissioner of gmp that anybody found to be causing offence or committing hate crimes in the wake of the attack would have the full force of the law coming down on them. I don’t see much future for a society that can’t be arsed getting angry at the murder of its own children.

Being a bigot isn't a good response to the evil of terrorism. It doesn't solve anything. I dare suggest some in the edl use these tragedies to try and excuse their bigotry. Mentioning the two in the same sentence can encourage that thinking. Neither justify the other. Whether that be murdering journalists because they published a cartoon of Muhammad or being violent because of a jihadist terror attack. We've had political discussions before? I tend to stay clear of them. Internet isn't really the place for them now.
However...
For the record I agree with some of what you say RE: Manchester bomb. Somewhere along the way the actual victims got forgotten and focus changed to Islamophobia. Nothing is above criticism and Islam should be openly criticised. Many who practice it have beliefs that don't belong in the current day. Nobody should be criticised for raising this. It's just there's way of being critical. Even people with the best intentions should probably pick a better platform than a protest where they cannot be sure there won't be some bigots there, who's actions will distract from any legitimate discussion.

It depends to whom you speak when comparisons are made between Israel and Isis, I'm certain that many Palestinians would make that comparison as in fact do some non Palestinians. Does the condemnation of Israeli actions make one anti semitic? And on the other side of that spinning coin does the condemnation of Isis make one racist? Or are the rules different? | |
