Next manager? on 23:31 - Apr 1 with 3441 views | numptydumpty | And when owners and staff choose the next manager DO NOT LOOK AT ANY FORUMS _ SOCIAL MEDIA OR ANY POST BY ANY RANDOM INTERNET WARRIORS - base your decision in the same way any business assesses who best fits the role !!!!!!!!! But perhaps its the last chance saloon for most who making the decisions here - and if we go further backwards then it might be time for certain people in management and ownership roles to consider that perhaps this gig is not for them...…..

Next manager? on 18:39 - Apr 1 by PinnerPaul | What did you expect? We're not an inspiring club Its only when you start to look at realistic alternatives that the euphoria of sacking McClaren begins to wear off a touch. Add to that the fact we now have 2 years plus of him and his staff's salaries to add to the budget is the reason I've haven't exactly got the bunting out over this decision. Pep and Klopp together wouldn't make Lynch a decent player for example, yet every time we do this - sack the manager - we expect us to suddenly improve - we won't. |
The issues are above the manager. Yes spot on - who recruited Lynch in June 2016? Les and JFH https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/les-ferdinand-qpr-cant-compete-with-ch Another piece of crap recuiting on 15k+ per week Whilst we have this structure we will fail. Les can't spot a player as proven over the past 4.5 years (Freeman was Penrice/Holloway) New manager comes in and finds we have crap players on a lot of money. Many of these players are out of contract at the end of the season and surprise surprise our performances and results drop off in the second half of the season. The players coming out of contract stop pushing themselves as they realise they won't be here the following season. Also miss games easier through injuries or take longer to come back from injury. It's stuffed. We are a small club and can't afford a poor DoF. [Post edited 2 Apr 2019 3:13]

Next manager? on 04:06 - Apr 2 with 3188 views | timcocking | There are definitely several i really don't want, usually just down to somebody i think seems an unpleasant bloke in the interviews. If i wouldn't want him as my manager, i wouldn't want him at QPR. Nigel Pearson or that Brentford pr!ck, temporarily forgotten his name spring to mind. Gary Rowett seemed ok to me, has he been sacked again recently? Dunno, don't pay enough attention to other teams. I just don't think the manager has often been our problem and it would seem unlikely to improve things. What we need to improve are players who are more comfortable on the ball and have the ability to make first-time passes. And a good striker. I like Nahki a lot, but i'm not sure he is the most composed. So, on balance, Gerry Francis with Wenger as his assistant.

He was taking them some years back when he was playing for Swansea so I assume he does by now.

Interesting one. I was thinking recently he's handled himself very well in very difficult circumstances, contrary to what you would have expected from him when he first took the job. Could just run his contract down and come without compo as well. Certainly worth more attention than most of the other names being thrown around.
Next manager? on 12:29 - Apr 2 with 2606 views | Galileo | Not that I'm advocating him but nobody has mentioned Clement this time around. Burnt his bridges at Reading, Awful football by all accounts. Bowyer is an interesting suggestion. From afar I too have been impressed with how he's gone about his business. Took over almost a year ago and just missed out on the play-offs, while replicating his achievements this season too with no money and after losing their top goal scorer in Jan. Would he not fancy an easier challenge next time ?
Next manager? on 12:36 - Apr 2 with 2562 views | Hooped_Pullie | Lee Bowyer ticks quite a few boxes - top five at Charlton with no money and a Club as much in turmoil with itself as the country is with Brexit. Inventive with resources and contacts, good with youth, and out of contract in a matter of weeks. Compared to what Rowett et al would probably ask for, he may be a relatively cheap option too. And yet... He's Charlton's Olly in many ways : a product of the Club before going on to bigger things, emotional return as manager, affinity with the fans through dark days. Would he be as good at a Club he has no links to ? Perhaps, perhaps not. That's a risk and should be a real consideration.
Next manager? on 12:44 - Apr 2 with 2512 views | ngbqpr | To keep a QPR connection, maybe Bowyer could bring Kieron Dyer in as his number two...
| |
Next manager? on 12:50 - Apr 2 with 2495 views | Dean | Mark Warburton a no go apparently. As expected wanted too much control over youth and transfer policy and as expected QPR were not willing to give him that, presumably because they have done such a great job on that side of things.
