Now going to Ricos to undo a lot of the good work....
I'm feeling guilty with you lot all on a health kick. So going to have a think about what I should do at lunch, while having a bacon and fried egg buttie. (Traditional Tuesday lunch).

13,500 this morning. Murky and drizzly in SE13. Today is a treat day so roast beef sandwiches for lunch.

Good effort. If I've got the right person in the photo, you're looking like a mean machine.
I've been to the gym. I set off in thick fog / mist and returned in glorious sunshine.
Off to work this afto. Then meeting a prospective new employer. Then dealing with the plumber. Then working at home this evening (to replace the time from this morning when I scabbed off to the gym).

Are we being a tad dull by comparing daily steps (9307, as you ask)?
Or is it just good a good motivational tool to help improve our collective well-being?
TAMs bombshell of 70,000 steps in the day got me thinking:
a) whether I could do it.
b) whether I would want to do it.
c) if I did it, what would I be doing it for.
d) would I do it on my own, or with someone.
e) where would I do it.
f) what rehabilitation would I need afterwards.
And I think the answers are: maybe, probably, late mid-life crisis, somebody who is interesting and amusing but understands the need for silence occasionally, Lancaster canal, and considerable. But possibly not in that order...

I find it just helps me structure my exercise. It's handy to know roughly what you are aiming for at the outset so you can then think about varying it, working a bit harder on speed and giving the other things - like a good diet - chance to work.
I've upped my target recently to 12,000 a day because 10,000 didn't feel like stretch anymore. But my next step when the weather improves a bit will be to start running rather than walking and then I may change my targets again. Plus I intend to start swimming as a change to the routine as well.

The key is consistency, which in my case, there isn’t any. 😀

Come on Spud, the 70K megathon is only about twice what you did in London with your wife.
I love swimming and went regularly until recently. I unfortunately developed an allergy to the chlorine and had to stop. Hence the gym now.
Personally, I wouldn't go running. I'm worried about the impact on my joints and also find the mental battle of whether to stop and walk or to continue running tiresome.

I did this kind of course this morning except at the gym instead of at home.
She explains the movements and then gives a 15 min course that you have to do at the same time.

🤦â€â™€ï¸ I do worry about you
I'm encouraging the fitness clique to up their steps.
Robbie - I'm not keen on running but a couple of tips would be to get a top notch pair of trainers and also to do it in intensive bursts. For example, you walk for 20 mins and then run for 5 mins and then walk 20 mins, run 5 mins and so on. Alternating like this is supposed to increase the rate of your metabolism over the next 24 - 48 hours.

Hearing you loud and clear chekks. And I'm in no rush.

Ay. Am off chocolate right now. Just need to up my excercise mentality! I can do this. One life, no pain certainly no gain.
My sister is two years older my brother 3 years older. Both at the gym at least 4 times a week my sister cycles to Pilling from Poulton twice a week. They both put me to shame but I did enjoy my Eton mess 😀
We’ve got Simon Sadler

Wouldnt go running, too bad for the joints and may get the heart rate up too high at your age. Get a low impact excercise machine or go to gym a few times a week.
