Season Ticket renewals. 21:51 - Sep 2 with 30568 viewsEsox_Lucius

I was chatting on the phone tonight with Dave Thomas and we spent a long time discussing what lay ahead for us both. We are both now in the seniors category so and fans likely to be allowed back in the ground wouldn't include us, and most of the friends we have both made in many, many years whilst we have been going to W12 and around the country.
This would mean the end of our regular seats in the Upper Loft through no fault of our own and the thought of buying a season ticket whilst not being allowed in the stadium doesn't sound in the least bit attractive on a fixed income. Sitting in a stadium with just a few thousand fans who are not allowed to sing or cheer doesn't set the body tingling either and the whole issue of entry and egress, coupled with toilet breaks means it is going to be fairly unworkable.
Having had a lifelong viewpoint of don't just keep coming up with problems, come up with solutions I had a think. Foremost in my thinking is...
*The club need money to survive and season tickets form an integral part of that each season.
*I don't want to pay for something I am not going to be able to use for the foreseeable future.
*I don't want to give up my seat in the Upper Loft.
* I am not interested in swapping out my matchday ticket for a stream.
What I came up with was to permit the club to take out the direct debit as normal once they are ready to do so and offer a number of options as to what fans want to do with that season ticket.
Redeem it with a stream for home and away matches until such a time as fans are allowed back into the stadium in a reduced and managed capacity.
Redeem it with a stream for home and away matches until such a time as fans are allowed back into the stadium in the normal fashion.
Neither of the above but, for the duration of the period before normal service is resumed, each match ticket not used is credited towards the following seasons season ticket on a one for one basis.
This would allow fans who sit together to retain their group of seats and still allow the club to get much needed funding.
Thoughts?

The grass is always greener.

Haven't got mine yet

Me neither. But I only renewed yesterday. Maybe they are having to send out the codes manually, and there must have been a rush to renew when they announced the streaming + missed game refund deal on Tuesday.

Made the decision to renew today and found out I’d unbeknowingly automatically renewed earlier in the week anyway (something to do with paying by monthly direct debit instalments)

A tip for the streaming QPR+ activation code. Mine was filtered to an email/ gmail drawer I rarely look in called promotions. Sadly I don’t associate QPR with promotions anymore so hadn’t thought to look but there it had been happily nestling for a day or two.

2020/21. Bring it on! Hope we’re all back at Loftus Road (The Kiyan Prince) by the end of this.

Mmmm. Haven't received my streaming code. Emailed qprsupport@streamamg.com as detailed on the offish. Got an "undeliverable" response, saying "The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now"

Anyone got an alternative email address?

I rang the box office on 0208 740 2613 and they emailed the code while I was on the phone. They shut at 5 though. The recorded message when you first get through is very repetitive, but they answered after a couple of minutes

Thanks mate. I forwarded the "undeliverable" email to every address I could find on the offish, and a nice young man called Dan replied, giving me my code, which he said had already been sent to me (it hadn't).

Moving back to the 'top' as this just posted by the BBC. I know situation changing daily, but it seems, for now, plans for spectators to return still going ahead.

Did my first game last Sunday - a women's level 3 friendly, not many - 25 or so, but there were spectators there!

I noted yesterday that non-League was getting crowds in - a Wingate and Finchley game this Sunday, would have gone but we have plans already.

If you are able to social distance and stick to sitting with no more than 6 people in your bubble crowds should be able to return, think in a way clubs like us having 4-5,000 through the door have a better chance of happening over 15-20,000 at Spurs.

The main issue will be what fans do after the game, there was a charity game in Sunderland recently with 300 people attending which was fine but around 250 of them went to a local working mans club afterwards which has now seen 64 of them test positive for the virus and many of them had been back to work spreading it around the area so they are close to a local lockdown now.

That's a good point Dave.

It's fine the clubs making all these social distancing arrangements in the same way schools have had to. But once the kids are outside the premises there is no control once you are out of the vicinity. Even if you have 5K supporters inside Loftus Road you still have the issue with Clive and his mates having to be inside the Crown at 8am to make sure they are inside before the irregulars try and pile in to the pub for a pint and the same for every pub and tube station.

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

Not sure if I like the bit about supporters “abusing” the system in order to obtain free streaming. I've had a ST for donkey years even though I never get to all the home games for a number of reasons. There are, i believe a large number of evening fixtures scheduled which I can't easily get to.
I certainly don't want to claim a refund because of this and didn't renew purely to get the streaming which I can take or leave.

I’m in the same boat in that I can’t make midweek games, and also the Luton game in May.That means there are least 8 that I can’t make out of 21.If I don’t get picked for the Saturday games I will get priority for the next game which will possibly be a midweek game that I can’t attend.Or can I choose which game I can use my priority access for?

I can understand the club wish to retain revenue, but a bit harsh on the 50% rule for the ballot and refunds. Who knows how this pandemic will play out, what age groups may need to shield in winter months, local lockdowns in different areas thus affecting the chance to apply for ballots and then falling short of applying for 50% of games, and as I understand it lose right to end of season refunds.

I think they are just trying to say if you buy a ticket with no intention of going just to get the streams it will cost you a lot more than it would if you just buy the streams and sack off the season ticket, i think they are hoping the only people who renew are planning to go to as many games as they can which makes the ballot easier to manage

If the true number of season tickets sold is only around 4700 and the crowds limited to 5000,I can’t really see it being that much of a problem getting in to virtually every game you want to.
Has anyone got any up to date information on the number sold?

Think they said as of the pod casst just under 5k not sure in up take since then though so maybe over 5k now , will depend on how many say they can’t commit to the 50% attendance rule I suppose , do wonder what till happen if they say in a couple of months ok we can let 8k in will those who said they can’t commit to 50% be allowed to change there minds ?

Ah, now comes the catch. I did think the initial offer seemed very generous. Which is why I renewed, in part. As an over-60 I've paid £365.50. The streamed home games would have cost me £230 anyway, plus however many midweek away games there are - maybe 6 or 7? So I won't be too bothered if I don't get all my money back. But for full-price season tickets it's a different calculation, of course.

The other reasoning behind my renewing was to kind of help the club financially. So if they are now changing the rules, and I have to apply in the ballot - or get "deferred ballot" tickets - for games that I can't attend because I'm not in London that day - then that's not good form by the club, in my opinion.

I'm over 65, in an "at risk" group, and whilst I'd be prepared to chance it at a socially-distanced football match, I'm not sure yet about travelling across town on South-Eastern Rail and the Central Line.

Of course we might yet have another HMGov U-turn and all football crowds get banned again. In which case I hope the club will have the good grace to revert to the promises made in Plan A.

[Edit]: to query why Over-60s don't get a reduced rate on the streamed games. If I had been offered, say, £7.50 for each streamed game, then I might have taken that, rather than renewing my ST and now feeling pressured into entering ballots for games that I can't attend and/or risking infection by travelling across London.

The more I read the more about the ST stuff the more I’m confused.

What is this 50% ballot rule? It seems to suggest we have to opt into a ballot for each game. Surely if you buy a ST you are automatically in the ballot for each game? Am I missing something here?

Do I get full (1/23rd) a refund for last Saturday’s game v Forest?
Do I get a partial rebate cos I watched the stream?
Or do I get no refund cos it’s still BCD.

Got my head around a few other things at the moment sorry if I’m being thick.

I think the club have unnecessarily alienated quite a few with this “rule” change. As I said earlier, quite a lot of my match day experience is to do with meeting up with mates that I only see on match day, a few pints and a chinwag after the game before heading off to our various parts of the country.
If I can’t form a bubble then there’s no guarantee that we’ll all be successful in the ballot so that alongside the reluctance to board tube trains at the moment makes attending in the near future quite unappealing..

The original idea that we’d get a refund at the end of the season AND games streamed seemed perfectly fitting and rewarding to those of us who have paid money up front.

Can you sell a product and then change the rules after sale? Don't think so. Glad I didn't bother doing it just for the streams now, more trouble than it is worth.

My understanding from reading everything is you have to apply for the ballot for each game that the ballot applies to, rather than being automatically entered. Be interesting to see if some people get caught out by that thinking they're straight in.

I don't *think* we get a 1/23rd refund for Forest because its still BCD - I think it only applies to games you apply for a ballot but don't get in. Could be I've misunderstood that though!

They've changed the rules but say you can cancel your ST and get your money back if you don't like it. Cancel by 2nd October.

If you do that, you'll have had three streamed games for free - Forest (h), Coventry (midweek away - we hope), and Middlesborough (h).

The club is clearly making it up as they go along. But then so is the government.

Yeah, I think you have to enter it too. I can see more problems with that!

I think we do get the 1/23rd refund for Forest but only as long as we attend 50% of the home matches or enter at least 50% of the ballots. If you don't do either of those, all refunds are lost.

The 50% being based on current circumstances and subject to change if the ground isn't opened up for as many games as expected because of Lockdown 2 or whatever cock-up they manage next.
