Very frustrating watch from our point of view. Their midfield has bossed it and their centre halves are big and ugly enough that the aerial route is a no-go. We look vulnerable to the same, however.
Beesley is busy ratting about up front but we just cannot feed him in the deck, which seems our most likely route to goal. A really good shot from Ollie aside, you have to say this is Accrington’s half.

Maybe use Tavares and his extra pace and try and hit the ball in the channel to isolate their big centre backs one on one? It worked with Baah last season. |  | | |

Pitch must be really hard too as both teams struggling with the bounce |
0-0 at HT. Looking for things to comment on but genuinely struggling. 1 good effort by each side & generally they were on top. Their left winger looks to have something about him but overall no-one standing out on either side. As pointed out pitch looks bobbly which isn't helping but overall the crossing & passing could have been better.
Needs 1 team to come out and put their stamp on the second half, hopefully us. We definitely need to be more positive |  | | |

Think I'd swap Beesley and Newby around. Beesley out wide might be a more effective target/outlet. Newby when he did find himself central was key in the Rathbone effort defenders really didn't fancy their chances and stood off.
Bit of a nothing first half really Accrington were more on top but in reality neither team have done enough to deserve a goal and it shows. Nil nil into the break let's hope BBM has some words of wisdom for them. |  |
