SAINTS TOP OF THE PREMIER LEAGUE 22:07 - Nov 6 with 3211 views | dirk_doone | And top of the league in November, not just August or September. This is the first time a south coast team have been top of the Premier League this late in the season. A six match unbeaten run too. [Post edited 6 Nov 2020 22:14]

SAINTS TOP OF THE PREMIER LEAGUE on 22:57 - Nov 6 by saintmary5 | Always loved Ralph and in many ways this is proof that time and patience regarding a non premier league quality manager appointed to mediocre premier team will always come good given the time and support from management, supporters and team will always succeed. We will not win the premiership but we look forward to the rollercoster ride this season knowing that we have amazing chance of reaching european level. |
If Liverpool the champions can concede 7 in one game, the foxes came from no where to win the league a few years ago. This season is already a peculiar one. The 'big' teams are stuttering I for the first time in as long as I can remember , think we have an actual chance, if a small chance, to win it.

The JWP effect was massive last night after his villa performance. Newcastle simply refused to tackle around the box in case they gave us a free kick in his territory , this meant the likes of Walcott and Armstrong could really run at them. Long may this attitude last against us.

I’ve not been his biggest fan in the past but he didn’t do too much wrong yesterday, and that flick to Walcott was lovely. The way we attack teams directly now is so refreshing. I think back to all those games under Puel and Pellegrino with the ball passed sideways on the edge of the opposition area. Get the defenders running back, facing their own goal. It should be the first rule of football. |
totally agree, Walcott summed up the directness for me. He was pretty good at filling in for Ings, in that dropping into a kind of no.10 posn, getting the ball and just heading for the goal. I really thought that shot was in, but a great assist for Adams. I thought Adams did just brilliantly. Huge strength and some decent pace and a great goal. Armstrong is great, JwP is JwP, usual 7 out of 10. Romeu is like a beast in the middle and technically decent. Lastly, Vestergaard is now the CB we all hoped he was when he signed. Looks very good

It’s good that we can agree on something, Jay! Have a good weekend.

One slight worry is the two free headers Newcastle got both of which could have been goals with a better player on the end (and that second save from McCarthy was top drawer). Was Vestergaard at fault? For all that, he’s clearly improved hugely in recent weeks.

Sorry I disagree, flick aside too often he had the chance to get at their RB but he cut back and did a Redmond

FFS, can’t even politicians have a day off? My favourite interview with your hero Corbyn was when he was talking about making soup - he could have sold me that at least...

Agree that both he and Stephens were a bit hesitant pressing forward on the left hand side but otherwise I thought he was OK. I am usually screaming at the telly about him and I wasn’t yesterday!
