As usual you miss the bigger point

Nah, just bored with you losers blowing hot air.
Why not come up with sensible discussions e.g. regarding Government paying for cladding, Northern Ireland border, pay for nhs, removing House of Lords and reducing size of Commons, Royal Yacht, profligacy on HS2, overseas aid etc.? These would be 'the bigger point' . Or discuss something else important like football......

No, you and others just want to make a hullabaloo of a Minister having a naughty snog and being stupid enough to let the gutter press take a photo. Yawn

But it is not just a “naughty snog” though is it? Not only has he done a Cummings and clearly broken the Covid rules, but he has sorted out a top job for his bit on the side, just as Johnson sorted out some lucrative deals for his bit on the side when he was mayor. It is not ok for people elected by the public to sort out their buddies and their f uck buddies nice little earners.

Hancock has been telling everyone since the start of COVID to maintain social distancing and to wear a mask. And here he is blatantly ignoring his and the Govts advice in a public building with one of his employees. After sticking his tongue down her throat did he then go into meetings with other colleagues or slip off back to his wife and kids knowingly that he could be putting them at risk. I would say it beggars belief but nothing this lot does suprises me. We live in a country where its leaders live in a moral vacuum. The fact that people think that it is acceptable says everything.

In fairness he may have a 2m long dick

One of the things that most British people are proud of is that were a pretty fair bunch. We like to think that we’re not systematically corrupt like many nations, we don’t like hypocrisy, we expect everyone to play by the rules and we expect people to ‘do the decent thing’ when caught out.

Johnson and his bunch of plastic patriots are undermining all that. Hypocrisy is easily tolerated and nobody ever resigns. Instead we’re asked to be proud of flag waving and statues of long dead racists.

These f*ckers are dragging us down.

I was agreeing with you till you got to’ be proud of flag waving and statues .’
We should be proud of our flag. Not flying the red flag or the eu flag which are totally inappropriate. Not aware anyone said be proud of statues but we shouldn’t be apologising for our history ( that’s revisionist) although we should return some art works that were stolen and never paid for.

When we win gold at the olympics and they raise the Union Jack, I’m as proud as the next man. Happy to see one on the tail of a BA plane, or one flying on a public building.

It’s the politicians who like to make their statements standing in front of rows of them that unsettle me. There are just too many images of Soviets, or Nazis or Kim Jong Il doing the same thing. For me, these politicians are cynically using the flag to score political points, and are therefore actually disrespecting it.

This sums the situation up perfectly. We have always had people who abuse their positions but once caught out as you say, they would do the “decent thing” and resign. Now, buoyed by Johnson’s example, they just brazen it out and Carry On Regardless. With Johnson himself playing the Rumpo Kid, they are the cast acting in the Great British tradition of Carry On films. Is bunch of incompetent, self serving buffoons led by the biggest self serving buffoon of the lot. They are an embarrassment and empower all of the people in this country who also have no moral backbone and no decency. You can tell by the faces and reaction if the opposition party that they can’t believe what is going on on Parliament and that the goal posts not only have been moved, but piled high and burned. There are no rules now, just of bunch of piggies with their snouts with firmly in the trough. One rule for them, one for the rest of us plebs. Jobs for mates or fu ck buddies are the norm and accepted by a large section of the electorate as absolutely ok. Not only have we got our country back, we have also got our subserviency back as we doff our caps to the new ruling classes, who have ushered in a new age of corruption, cronyism and account free adultery.

Sajid Javid to replace him. That's a good move and a big step up.

Good to see someone with a back bone and principles back in a senior job. Perhaps if he had been in this job from the start they wouldn’t have made such a dogs dinner of it all.

It's a step in the right direction back to the job he was best suited to, Chancellor of the Exchequer, from which he resigned after he fell out with Cummings, who Boris backed against him.

His whole background has been in banking. He was a managing director of Deutsche Bank and vice president of Chase Manhattan Bank. It's weird how people who have almost zero knowledge of a subject, like health and social welfare, are then placed in control of it for the entire country. It's a bit like a children's party game, where they all change hats. OK, you've had a go as bank manager, now you can be a doctor.

I'm not criticising him - I think he'd make a good PM - just the system .

As you say, it is the system. We elect people to represent us from all walks of life. They end up in Parliament and then many of them end up running huge departments in which they have little or no experience. That is why the Civil Service is so important and why Cummings efforts to dismantle the system did so much harm to the way things work.

Re Javid. He may have had a career in banking (as well as repairing TVs) but he also seems to have a certain amount of competency, something in which Peter Pandemic was sadly lacking. A few years ago I spoke to. Labour voter from his constituency who said that, for a Tory, he wasn’t too bad and thought he would do well in Government. He gets Brownie points from me for sticking two fingers up to Cummings when he refused to sack his staff.

Don’t think it matters at all that a minister doesn’t have a background in the department’s subject. They’re just elected representatives and in many ways it helps if they don’t bring baggage. They get all the technical information from their advisors and they’re there to develop policy and to ensure everything is aligned with government thinking. It’s often the way with secretaries or state that they learn their trade as junior ministers and then get a big job.

*Cummings trip to Bernard Castle
*Prof Neil Ferguson affair during first Lockdown
*World leaders not wearing masks or social distancing at G7 bbq knees up.
*UEFA officials don't need to quarantine for Wembley trip.
*And now Matt Hancock........

This is Elitism - one rule for them, one rule for the rest of us. It also suggests that they have never feared the virus and the last 15 months has been more about controlling the plebs than anything else.

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

The G7 was the ultimate example of hypocrisy. They all met to discuss the climate crisis and the Covid crisis amongst other things. Macron had his arm around Biden just after locking down parts of France. They all crowded around the Queen. No social distancing at all, no masks.

They all enjoyed a barbecue of fish and various meats, with Merkal, Boris, Biden and the Canadian PM and the others enjoying wine and beer in hand and burgers which we are told to cut down on to help the environment. All the leaders flew into Cornwall on private jets. Which one of them took a stand and refused to come, to save the damage to the environment their flights caused? The answer is none of them. Separate jets with the flags of each country on. Did they think to share? Not a chance. Why didn't they ferry and cycle, if they want us to? Yet they all tell us to do the opposite of a number of things they all did over those few days. Biden then travelled by helicopter to have tea with the Queen, after discussing how to protect the planet. They are all the same arn't they.

From barely registering on the scale of infections, Cornwall is now a covid hotspot with St Ives and Falmouth having exponential infection rates.

Nothing to do with the G7 junket though.
