Extortionate Gas prices, Electricity prices soaring..crisis in full effect 06:32 - Oct 6 with 6443 viewssaint68

Sounds familiar doesn't it, well that's the situation here in Spain and across-the-board in Europe..member States getting rather angry and turning on the commission to act.

Italy suffering with massive debt, food shortages, and rising tensions due to the mass immigration from across the Mediterranean.

Spanish government have actually acted by cutting all profits for energy companies to bridge the gap on energy costs..France stamping their feet and saying that shouldn't be allowed ( a suppler to Spain)

See its happening over here and across Europe, but when I read the insular clap trap from desperate remainers blaming Brexit for absolutely everything happening back in England it really does make me chuckle..

I think the saying was "Little Britain' by those that wanted to remain in the (Union🤔🤔🤒) Well maybe take a look at the state of the European Union before blaming everything on leaving the very un-harmonious EU.

Interestingly, Germany said it wouldn't buy nuclear weapons so the Americans sent them there for free. Meanwhile the UK spends billions buying them from Lockheed in California. No wonder the Germans have more money to spend on their healthcare.

More money than who? We spend more govt money on healthcare than Germany does.

They dont, but as they are apart of nato, nato defends them, america places them at the request of nato, who cover the costs, they do move around.

According to one report I read Germany spends 11.7% of its GDP on Health compared to the UKs 10%.

Calculating 'government' expenditure is complicated by the fact that in Germany they pay compulsory state medical insurance, which is separate from their compulsory state pension insurance whereas in this country we pay compulsory state national insurance for both plus some of our income tax so in the UK a higher percentage of the health expenditure appears in the annual government budget. But, the final result is that the German health system is better funded than ours, which helps explain this: "Germany is one of the biggest spenders on healthcare in Europe. It spends 11.1% of annual GDP on healthcare expenditure. Only Switzerland and France spend more in terms of GDP percentage":

The German healthcare system is also better equipped than ours which is why they were able to donate respirators to us to help us out during the pandemic and medivac critical care patients from other EU countries into German hospitals.

If you have recent experience of the British healthcare system, you will probably know that it is understaffed, inadequately equipped, that hospital waiting rooms are overflowing sometimes literally out onto the streets, and waiting lists for operations are longer than they've ever been, sometimes running into years not months, which makes it criminal that our government is wasting so many billions on buying nuclear weapons from the Americans, whereas the German government gets them for free. The respirators that the Germans donated to our hospitals were actually paid for from their defence budget (money they didn't waste on nuclear weapons) as they came from the German army's supply.

“Understaffed”?!

The entire population of the UK is only 67m!

Great point. All of the +ves people quote for the EU are linked to trade and it would be def be a plus for the UK to be part of a free trade group with other Euro countries.

The real issue came when the EU started to pretend to be a country with a parliament, own currency, own laws and even a flag and 'national' anthem!!

What was the problem to which the EU trading group pretending to be a country was the answer to?

I am 100% with this.

Do you think for one moment that the French, Germans, Italians or Spanish thought of themselves as anything other than French, German, Italian or Spanish?
We were trying to work together until the nonsense that was Brexit came along.

Every country within the EU retained its identity.
It never pretended to be a country, it just showed an unity within.

when it was the EEC, it was full of positives. unrestricted trade with no giving up of boarders, no freedom of movement, no european court, no eurpoean mp's, no eurpoean unelected fools telling us what we should or should not do and if we dont fall in line you'll be booted out.

As Poland are finding out, you either do as told by the eu or you will be kicked out.

Grumpy,

Ireland had 2 referendum (2001 and 2008) voting against the EU but got told to vote again!

if you're happy to be in an undemocratic political union with a bloated bureaucracy ever thought communism might be for you?

The French obviously have their own agenda as always. The French Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs is to consider a new demand from 40 MPs that the French Government pursue a policy of making French the sole working language of the EU Institutions. No matter about Ireland, the Scandis and east Europeans that frequently use English!

'if you're happy to be in an undemocratic political union with a bloated bureaucracy ever thought communism might be for you?'

And we are so much more democratic with our House Of Lords etc.

you cant compare the house of lords to the EU council.. one makes laws, and rules that all of the EU need to follow with out discusing any thing with the MEP's voted in for by the members population.... the house of lords examines bills, questions government action and investigates public policy. It does not make any rules or laws.

The House of Lords has power to amend or reject bills allbeit that it restricted by the parliament acts. It has the power to challenge and check the work of government.
Members are drawn from Peerage.
Boris is on or has been on holiday at a Peers villa, guess who made him a Peer.

nothing wrong with amending a bill if needed, they dont make laws or rules. Goverement can by pass the lords if they wish or if the lords are trying to stop a goverment doing some thing they was voted in power to do.

The EU council is literlly a set of unellected people who sit behind the scenes drawing up stuff, future plans, laws, rules, the pensions they will get, every thing and they dont need to discuse any thing at all with any democratic ellected MEP who are supposed ( used too, we are out thank god ) to represent us in the EU.

All decisions are first done by the council who are the rulers of the EU. they might share sometiny info with the MEPs but most stuff MEPS never get told or even know are being discused.

The lords just scrutinize the goverment.

Cant understand how you cant clearly see the difference between the ones who scrutinizes against those who make the rules and laws and the ones who just makes rules and laws with no scrutinizing......

did you read it? it says nothing a all about how the council can set rules and laws. MEPs can only discuse things they are told. how many MEPs have voted on an EU army? but yet, its going a head even if some states want one or not... as is clearly seen in that artical you showed me " MEPs have the power to amend, reject or approve nearlly all legistration "

read the words clearly and carefully, NEARLLY ALL...

the EU council can go above the MEP's like our goverment can go above the lords...

The president can even lock down a boarder with out even consulting the council. just ask northan ireland and the ROI.

Cant understand how you think that the EU 'just makes rules and laws with no scrutinizing'
The EU council are made up of the heads of state of the 27 countries, they ultimately decide on policy.
There is plenty of scrutinizing.
