Players collapsing on the pitch 08:24 - Dec 12 with 8260 viewsJellybaby

This seems to be the elephant in the room. I have been following football man and boy for 50 years, I have never known such a time as this when hardly a week goes by with out another story of a player collapsing or having breathing difficulties, Yesterday it was Victor Lindelof. Surely there must be an urgent review into this - why this year, young men at the peak of fitness are collapsing.

When Trevor Sinclair mentioned a possible link between the covid jab and John Fleck's collapse he was immediately cut off by Talk Sport, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10241903/Trevor-Sinclair-blasted-vaccin

I am against the coercion and mandating of this jab, but this is not point scoring. These events are tragic. I am genuinely interested in what Uglies think about this, why is it happening and what can be done?

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

Yes. I had my booster yesterday. Eldest booked in for this Thursday. Youngest had it recently so no rush for him, but will be done over Christmas hols.

Good on on ya!!..glad to see parents taking things seriously, hope you and the family have a wonderful Christmas.

I, as you, have had enough of the mentalists that want to see parents harm their children for no reason at all.

This seems (to me) to be a fair minded synopsis of the current situation on athletes collapsing this year;

Probably not the best idea to use that bastion of open mindedness Laurence Fox in their article if they want it taken seriously. As I said before, if proper scientists investigate this (which I am sure they are) and publish their findings, fine. Heart arrhythmia is very common. I had never heard of Atrial Fibrillation before I was diagnosed with it 10 years ago. I mentioned it in the local at the time and was surprised by how many other people had it, young and old.
Then of course there is the argument that your heart is a greater risk from covid than it is from the vaccine.

Typical nasty response from you Ian.

You may need to take an enforced sabbatical if you carry on in that vein.

Suck it up 68. You cross a line when you start commenting on other people's families.

Nothing new. Saints have been taking the lead and then collapsing all over the pitch the whole of 2021.

I'd garner that as a non committal answer...literally nothing of gravity or logical response..I expect far more from you GG, as I do have a lot of respect for you.

Of course it's non committal because you haven't made a case. So far it says something like "I remember lots of cases on the media of fit sportsmen dying. I haven't checked for any common causes or rates of incidence except they were all sportsmen but I'll dangle a whiff of covid and/or vaccines as a link and a dash of no-smoke-without-fire just leave it at that". Are you prepared to commit and cite covid as a common cause? If so there would be something to argue with.

No evidence in the uk about footballers having any issue with covid vaccine. In fact many haven’t even had the vaccine, so it’s a dead elephant.

Professor Keith Neal of the University of Nottingham - who specialises in the research of the epidemiology of infectious diseases - believes it's irresponsible to make those suggestions based on little evidence. He told The Telegraph: "Given the track record of certain footballers in the field of anti-vaccine beliefs, it is totally irresponsible to make these unsubstantiated comments, as opposed to getting them properly dealt with."

Professor Robert Dingwall, public health specialist at Nottingham Trent’s School of Social Sciences, also added: "It may be tempting to blame Covid vaccines but pundits do have a public responsibility not to fuel vaccine hesitancy without any real evidence that this is a common factor in widely separated events."

Pah! cannot trump 50 years of casual observation by a non expert surely. Anyway, the Prof is clearly Ugly.
