You can try hiding in the last century as much as you like but you can't hide the fact that even Wigan have had many bigger attendances than Little Pompey's record home attendance THIS CENTURY. Little Pompey are just a small lower league club. Little Pompey's record attendance THIS CENTURY: 20, 821 Little Pompey's last league attendance: 15,001 Little Pompey's last FA Cup attendance: 7,857 And that's how small Little Pompey are NOW. 1. Probably because the cacpaity has been 21k or less since then. 2. Probably because the present capacity is reduced to 16k ish 3. Yes - almost as funny as you lot getting 9.8k for a cup tie against Sheff Wed a few years back. Hilarious stuff Let's face it - Brighton are now bigger than you. But feel free to change the subject - again.

This is a very strange argument though as stadium capacity and inaccuracy of attendance figures renders it pretty useless when comparing size of fanbase. Portsmouth never sold out the highest capacity in Fratton’s history of 58000 Southampton over sold the Dell’s highest ever capacity of 30,000. Not sure how much more can be said without our ground ever having the capacity of the 1940’s old Girl. |
A strange argument - yet you are saying that Pompey never achieved 58k, even though back then 'inaccuracy of attendance figures renders it pretty useless' A strange argument indeed. A 30k nominal standing stadium would have always taken a few more as 30k isn't much of a celing.

The difference is that Portsmouth are widely known and laughed at for over inflating their attendances in the bizarre hope they will be seen as the Bayern Munich of the UK You couldn’t sell your big stadium out

classic 130....using the lack of capacity in their mingy ground, as a reason the club haven’t been able to have a crowd bigger than 21k this century. Yet trying to diss us for the exact same reason earlier in the thread. Dry your eyes nipper.

More trophies, bigger capacities, but still behind Saints on average all time attendances, and the ones that do go to Fratton are utter freaks.

Bit pathetic, ...........really? Someone who used to stand in the Chocolate Boxes, paying 1/- to get in the boys enclosure. Watching the Albion Band on the pitch and throwing coppers into the target that used to be paraded around the pitch at half time trying the hit the lads I knew who carried the target. Walking to the Echo Office after the game to wait for the Football Echo to get full time results so my Dad could check his Pools. Going up to Selhurst Park for my first ever away game (lost 1-0 in the Cup) and being separated from my Dad as there were people in our seats. Suffering the same problem in 1977(?) when we had to eject Charlton fans from our seats in the poxy stand at the Valley when we lost 6-2. Watching Len Wilkins (look him up) play his last game at The Dell before emigrating to Canada. Watching Saints play the Denmark Olympic X1 in a friendly in front of 2,000 at The Dell in the mid 1980's. Also a friendly v La Paz (from Chile) at The Dell, a team who wore the red sash shirt we wore more recently. Think we won 4-0. Presume you all remember Bill Bray or Stanley Matthews who I saw at The Dell as a youngster play for Blackpool in a Cup Tie (we lost)? Anything else I can help you with??????????????
