It's just some small lower league team with almost no fans losing at home to Harrogate Town in a nearly empty stadium but as you've switched to Chelsea, I'm sure it won't be of much interest to you.
I doubt that you've bothered going to Fratton Park for years. I don't blame you - other than when Southampton play there - very few people have THIS CENTURY.

When did you do that. You couln't answer my question about 34k, then went off at a tangent about the FA cup. You shouldn't get all het up about these things.
I'm sure you'll win another trophy soon - to show everyvone how big a club you are.

You are falling apart again, a bit like Little Pompey v Harrogate Town
Serious question, Worzel 130. Has Little Pompey even had a home attendance over 21,000 THIS CENTURY? How many sailors were based in Portsmouth in the last century is irrelevant.
The article is about support NOW and yours is so pathetic it's hilarious: not even in the top 5 in League One

Would that be because of big stand is being re-constructed?
Your history here: apparently less than 33k 50 Doncaster Rovers 37,149 Belle Vue Hull City Third Division North 2 October 1948 51 Brighton & Hove Albion 36,747 Goldstone Ground Fulham Second Division 27 Dec 1958 52 Leyton Orient 34,345 Brisbane Road West Ham United FA Cup fourth round 25 Jan 1964 53 Watford 34,099 Vicarage Road Manchester United FA Cup fourth round replay 3 Feb 1969 54 Reading 33,042 Elm Park Brentford FA Cup fifth round 19 February 1927 55 Swansea City 32,796 Vetch Field Arsenal FA Cup fourth round 17 February 1968 56 Southampton 32,363 St Mary's Stadium Coventry City Championship 28 April 2012 57 Swindon Town 32,000 County Ground Arsenal FA Cup third round 15 January 1972
Bit of an own goal there my Little Worzel friend as even you admit the biggest attendance in that list THIS CENTURY or even in the last 50 years is Southampton's .
You can try hiding in the last century as much as you like but you can't hide the fact that even Wigan have had many bigger attendances than Little Pompey's record home attendance THIS CENTURY. Little Pompey are just a small lower league club.
Little Pompey's record attendance THIS CENTURY: 20, 821

34k?
I'm sure you have beaten this figure at some time, otherwise it would mean you are below Doncaster and Orient

No not officially. This is a very strange argument though as stadium capacity and inaccuracy of attendance figures renders it pretty useless when comparing size of fanbase.
Portsmouth never sold out the highest capacity in Fratton’s history of 58000
Southampton over sold the Dell’s highest ever capacity of 30,000.
Not sure how much more can be said without our ground ever having the capacity of the 1940’s old Girl.

The way I go about this is pom*ey have won more than us but where are their fans? They either disappeared or didn't exist, we on the other hand have won basically **** all and yet have more fans, better fans.

To be fair Saints and Pompey have probably a similar amount of support, dependent on stadium size, league position etc etc. One thing that does surprise me is that when Pompey were at the top of the tree just after WW2, when grounds were packed each week and there were a lot of sailors in the city and Pompey's support was swelled by people all over Hampshire, including a fair few from Southampton, the average crowd at Fratton Park never reached above 37,000 at a time when the ground's capacity was 50,000. In comparison, Hull City, then in the old Third Division, had a higher average at Boothferry Park!!

thing is they're not the same size, despite what our skate dinlow says in the modern era they've almost never had bigger attendance than Saints - and the facts back that up - and for a lot of it have significantly lower.
I mean for a decade between 1990 and 2000 they struggled to get above 10k. It always confuses me the myth they're well supported when every fact proves otherwise.

Since Pompey's relegation to the 2nd Division in season 1960/1 the average attendance at Fratton Park has only exceeded Saints home games on four occasions ie 1961/2, 1962/3 1987/88 and 2008/9. For the 41 seasons from 1960/1 prior to building of St Mary's Fratton Park had a larger capacity than the Dell but only recorded higher home averages for three seasons. Of course there are reasons for this but these are the facts.

They have only had 8 seasons in the top flight in the last 60 years, so it is obvious that their support is not as large as ours, or even Brighton's.
My daughter first started going to Saints matches in our Championship promotion season of 11/12. Since then, we have been continuously in the Prem. Pompey on the other hand have gone down to L1 and L2 !! Quite amusingly, She has on a few occasions, questioned why they were our rivals, as we never seem to play them.
The fact that they have been in the 3rd and 4th tiers for so long has had an impact on the younger fans in particular. Nowadays the kids say they support Chelsea or Arsenal first and also Portsmouth as they are the local team. This is also reflective of the football shirts I have seen on the odd occasion I have visited Gun Wharf.
They are basically in the process of losing a whole generation of fans.

Also worth remembering the island itself isn't really a footballing city, even their most famous fan comes from a leafy town almost 20miles away.

To be fair to them (and its not easy!!) if they had a 30,000 capacity stadium they would fill it if they were in the Prem at least for the first few years. That said the chances of them getting a bigger stadium or reaching the heights of the Prem dont look too rosy atm.
