Lack of ambition 14:38 - Jul 17 with 6772 viewsGRIM

We were all optimistic when the club got nice new owners, but it looks as if they have no interest in winning football matches, they are only concerned about making money.
The policy of buying young players, giving them game time to raise their profile then selling them on at a profit makes good business sense but it does not win you football matches.
Every genuine Saints supporter knows that we have 3 major problems which are a crap goalkeeper ( McCarthy) + rubbish ctr backs + no goalscorers.
OK, Bazuna may improve the goalkeeping problem but that won't help if we're can't defend set pieces & we're not likely to score.
It doesn't help when we have a manager that appears to pick players based on his relationship with them rather than picking the best players.
I'm fed up with this season & it hasn't started yet.
Come on Saints give us all something to be optimistic about, spend some £'s & get some quality in ASAP.

We have as much dead wood in the squad as ever Mccarthy, Cabellero, Lynanco, Stephens Walcott, Dnepo, redmond and Diallo.

The reason we can spunk a bit of cash is that we brought a surplus 20mill last season,

Unfair on Willy. He's exactly what you need as a 3rd keeper.

You are just listing poor players in our squad. What we have had in previous seasons is poor players we were paying to play for other clubs. Hoedt, Gunn, Elyouniis when he was at Celtic, Lemina, Boufal, Cariillo, etc.

So we are in a better position financially which is why we can spend now to the level we did in the Summer we bought in Ings.

Bar Willy and Mcarthy, we are looking to move the others on. Most have been linked with loans away as we can’t sell them. So that is a list of deadwood . Not one of them should be near the squad

This, the invest to sell model offers very little for the fans. It should be invest to win, but we see very little evidence of that.

This is it in a nutshell, it's not sustainable because it offers so little hope or ambition...what's the point?

I haven’t posted on here for a long time due to how negative everyone can be and that’s everyone’s right but I can’t stay silent when I read such rubbish about how we are doomed before the final squad is announced!
With regard to transfers the comment why have we not signed xyz the reason is these money grabbing agents are holding out for the best deals and will be touting their players around collecting in all the offers if any and then near to deadline day or when they can’t get any more interest they will sit down with the player and say I recommend this move. Perfect example is Jessie Lingard he has been offered to every club in the premier and where will he end up most probably Nottingham Forest as they are the only club willing to meet his agents demands. West Ham have moved on from him etc.
you all might be right and at present I agree it doesn’t look good for the mighty Saints but let’s wait till the transfer window is shut and at least 4 of the squad are moved on and at least the 3 key players Needed are bought or loaned. Transfers always take longer then fans expect so let’s wait before concluding we are doomed.

I think the signings we have made are potentially very good.

Lavia and Bazunu both look very promising; need to see more of the German CB.

We however need at least 5 more players who can go straight into the first team:-

- two strikers
- two CB’s (Stephens and Lyanco are simply not up to it)
- a versatile full-back

We need a keeper as well, though I am hoping Bazunu will fit the bill.

We've signed two keepers and renewed Willy so zero chance of us signing another.

Same for CBs. We've 5 ones (albeit all shite) on the books so we won't be signing another.

He was given a contract a year ago. Dosent mean he is in the plans.

We signed 2 new goalkeepers and re-signed another 2. I dont think even the tactical genius of Ralph can shoehorn 4 keepers into the line up. So clearly people will go out, regardless of if the have "just" signed a new contract.

Why are you blaming Ralph for the signing of Lis? It was nothing to do with him. He was signed to play for one of the owner's other clubs.

More chance of you constructing a coherent sentence than Stephens going anywhere.
