The long-awaited White Paper is to be published next Wednesday, and some details have been leaked ahead of then. This follows on from the Tracy Crouch Review, and is seen as a once-in-a-lifetime chance for football to change its governance in order to help preserve the game throughout the pyramid, based on the concept of clubs as community assets

A piece here on how the legislation is likely to start taking shape as it moves through parliament. Dale are, of course, signed up to the Fair Game initiative which is seeking to influence the outcome

Now, we can all be cynical about this if we choose, but the simple fact is that it represents a chance for something to actually shift towards greater sustainability for the finances of clubs at our level. It wouldn't be coming a single moment too soon, however the eventual governance looks. The EFL (the governance body - or should i say corpse) imo needs to be either put out of its misery or significantly shaken up. The latest nonsense over transfer deadlines demonstrates just how much it's prepared to oversee some rules to the letter whilst ignoring other, more important rules around governance as being too much trouble. That's what the last few days have amply demonstrated, and in both cases at our expense

We need, both as a club and as a fanbase, to be not just watching but supporting this
