Another great game from my yoof. Especially the one where the keeper had moving arms!
And I remember my brother getting this for his 12th birthday with us playing it on the Saturday afternoon when Rangers thrashed reigning champions Derby 5-1, with Stan tearing them a new one. The first league table of that season, was shown after that game with three games played and the mighty R’s stood on top for the first time in our history. Happy days.

I like how the kid has put a tie on for the occasion - very smart.

I got the original Striker (as shown) as a Chrimbles present when I was a lad.... Great fun although the players did suffer from wear and tear a bit. One of the blue team almost totally lost the ability to kick and could only punt the ball forward a few inches (so he went in in defense). A mate of mine got the later edition "Super Striker" which had diving goal keepers.

I had one of those.
The two boys next door had one of those, but those snotty hoors had everything, the kind of lads who had all the Subbuteo stands and twety teams and a week later it was all chucked in the shed. They had great school lunches too. And their Mom was fit...
Where was I?

I was going to post about Striker mate. Not trying to trump you but I got the version with the floodlights and diving goalkeeper. Can still feel the excitement that Christmas when turning off the dining room light when it was dark and kneeling on the carpet over the pitch. That diving goalkeeper seemed a feat of engineering at the time.
And then my two racing bikes. Rayleigh Arena first which got stolen from the bike shed at Sth Ruislip station and then my glorious Rayleigh Medale.

So, you're resentful because, among other things, you wanted a fit mum? (No disrespect to your mum of course, this is on you).
Hmmmm, that's actually IoM territory (Foxdale/Peel) you're entering there......
I had someone giving out to me the other day, about all the bad things the English have done to the IoM. I pointed out that, on the other hand, they haven't still got mono-brows.......they laughed, well, they didn't.

I had World Cup Striker. My dad, God rest his soul, chucked it out when I wasn't paying attention grrr.
I bought a secondhand Striker game, at quite considerable cost, when my godchildren were old enough to play it and we played it as a family, with my dad reliving his time as a decent amateur footballer by handling one of the goalkeepers. Happy days.

When I was young, I wanted an escape from Colditz game that I had seen at my mate's house. My parents duly obliged but when I unwrapped the present at Christmas, I was surprised to find that they had bought me an entirely different game!
Little did I know that there were two very similar sounding games, Colditz and Escape from Colditz Castle. I had really wanted the latter but ended up with the former.
They weren't to know and it was just one of those things so I didn't complain and actually, all the male members of my family really got into playing it. The first game lasted over four hours but then we realised that it was unfair on the person playing the Germans if you didn't set a time limit for getting a certain number of POWs out.

Star wars figures from the 80s. Had hundreds of them. Mum gave them away to a family friends son. Was in a market a couple of months ago. Selling for 30 euros each. Thanks mum.

Funnily enough, was thinking about it the other day. hadn't seen it for years, and couldn't remember what it was called.
A bloke revived it a couple of years ago calling it Logacta 20 by a crowdfunding scheme. It had a limited run which I think all sold but the other day looking at the Facebook site he set up he may be planning to do another run of them soon.
Still have this one too. QPR were not part of the games so had to add them by creating a homemade sticker and add it to the board.

I got the Wembley board game at Xmas '75. The problem I had with it was there were too many 3rd/4th division sides in it for my liking considering this was supposed to be the last 32 in the FA Cup. How often has the FA Cup ever had 50% of the teams in the last 32 from the lower divisions? I know the home and away dice for those teams were weighted with lots of zeros and ones but they also had a 5 which the home and away dice for the 1st/2nd division teams didn't. To my mind it would have been better with 16 1st division teams.
Someone bought me this when I was young and obsessed with cricket As I got older, I decided I could make a far more realistic version myself and came up with a game in which you could more easily have maiden overs and players scoring 50s. I think my version had six or seven dice.
A propos of nothing
