With yesterday all but confirming relegation, and clearly financial issues at the club, do we look to offload any on loan players now (if their agreements allow), bite the bullet and put an emphasis on playing players who are contracted to be here next season with the rest of the matchday squad made up of our own players who have impressed & we might want to keep and youth players?
Would save us some cash, and also mean if we have a new manager they at least have a set of real match insight into the players we build next season's squad around. | | | |

I'm glad you've raised the issue of the potential contract extension for Henderson, because I asked about it when you mentioned it before, but you might have missed it.
I think this was after the Orient game when I'd heard someone on the minibus talking about it as well.

Seems sensible. Or transfer list the majority and see who decides to play to either stay or to market themselves. Won't do anything for next seasons sales knowing many of those players will be around | | | |

I’d obviously offer Lloyd a contract, fully expecting him to leave. I’d also offer a contract to Odoh. I accept I like him more than most, but I do think he’ll have his suitors in the FL.
Of the players listed I’d be doing everything humanly possible to offload EEL, John, Ball and Campbell.
I think in Rodney, Henderson, Mullarkey (if he stays), O’Donnell and Sinclair we’ll have a few players who are capable at that level. |  | | |

I can see Brierley transfer to Blackburn going through and I can see somebody coming for Mullarkey, because he has stood out since signing for us and may not fancy a return to the National League.
If you looked at Rodney and Sinclair, their going record as never been good, but to be fair Rodney has scored is it, 8 goals this season, but Stockdale's inexperience showed in free transfers 2 year contracts, when it is normal for them to get 1 year contracts. If players like John, EEL and Rodney had 1 year deals, do you think they may be more interested and up for the fight, but having a 2 year contract, means they have a guaranteed income for next season, then they can just go through the motions.

Rodney has 9 league goals and 10 in all competitions this season.
I wouldn't be actively looking to offload him for next season because, like you said, I think he'd do quite well at NL level but if he left us, I wouldn't cry about it either. |  |

Given that Brierley will almost certainly leave.
There's only Mullarkey in that list that I'd actively try and keep the rest can go on the transfer list, which is sad. I think he'll be off anyway, someone will have seen us play and take a punt on him.

Thanks for promoting this debate. The conjecture is interesting, but in all honesty it all depends on how many contracted players do what what Rathbone and Humphrys did last year and say they don’t want to be here.
My bet is O’Donnell (without a doubt league standard, Mullarkey (same applies); John and Ball and Campbell are out in the cold and I can see them wanting to go.
I think EEL still believes he is league level. Taylor is interesting, think he would be good for us in the National but will his agent be in his ear, saying he can do better? Trouble is CH’s in the worst team in the league don’t have much cache.
So that could leave us with just Dave and Sinclair. So plenty of scope for a new manager to put his stamp on things.
New deals for both Hendo and Odoh would be a yes from me. | | | |
