Just back from a few days in Nuremberg, I have to say it wasn’t the first on my list to visit, but it was decent for a quick break, a few historical sites to visit and relatively cheap for food and drink.

A good place to rally the troops, yes?

I worked in Germany in the '80s and had to visit Nuremburg. This was, of course, before the era of Google Maps etc so I stopped and asked a couple of locals for directions to where Hitler held his rallies. I don't think anyone had ever asked them that before. Of course, they didn't tell me and just shrugged their shoulders. The old town is very pretty.

You should have asked younger people for directions - instead of pensioners in their 80's or 90's. No wonder they looked sheepish and pretended not to know

My John Cleese impression probably didn't help:

They have got it on the tourist maps now, the Rally grounds are pretty much all in intact including the podium Hitler addressed the masses on, you could stand on it, but there were few people actually doing so.

It is in a big park that also contains the 1FC Nurenberg stadium
