How wolves have not had a last minute penalty is beyond ridiculous! What’s the point of varwhen they can’t get that right

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

VAR is just an IT system it’s the officials that are to blame. Carry on blaming a box if it makes you happy. If they remove VAR you’ll get the same mistakes/bias only quicker.

is it cheating or are they idiots along with the system

VVD was never a red card and should have been overturned, awful decision and no intervention
He should have blown for free kick given a yellow and looked at it on the monitor

Funny it was!

Still don’t agree it was a straight red
I also don’t think Trent AA should have seen yellow for chucking the ball back on to the pitch

No chance, that’s a blatant red all day long. As I think your the first non scouser I’ve seen who’s said that’s not a red card, as he’s committed a blatant DOGSO offence outside the box, which if he hadn’t of committed would have had that Newcastle forward straight one on one with the keeper. As you’ve just said you think it’s a foul and therefore yellow, but the fact is you can’t give just a cautioning for this offence as if you think it’s a foul it’s a straight red. Simple as really
So I wouldn’t go around calling them idiots when you’ve just gone and shown yourself that you wouldn’t exactly do much better…

Yeah because for anyone who knows their LOTG, it wasn’t one. As I can’t talk about this Trent incident as I didn’t see that one, but Van Dijk one’s a blatant red and even all the pundits on sky and talksport were agreeing on that one, with just the former scousers saying any different

You obviously didn't see the incident, VVD was last man, blatantly fouled Isak, and as last man denied a goalscoring opportunity. What did you expect the ref to do?

As for Trent, the ref overlooked the assault on him by Gordon before TAA's first booking for dissent, so he was hardly likely to book him again for a lesser offence than Gordon's original one.

If you don't think it was a sending off, you haven't seen the incident, you're wrong, even a scouser would know it was.

Don't think as someone who struggles to put a coherent sentence together you're really qualified for the grammar Police to correct the Ref

Full stop = .
And have not of= hadn't have/of.

But we get to enjoy goals being scored again.

I’ll take a few errors for that.

As our resident ref will tell us, the LOTG allow for a degree of interpretation and opinion. We also know that refs are more inclined to give home teams the benefit of a decision because nobody wants 30,000 shouting that they are a w**ker.

The comments recently that a blatant incident was not notified to a ref because he was a "mate" having a "poor game", have not helped.

VAR has, in my view, been an experiment that has failed. It has created as much controversy as it has removed: it has removed a lot of the flow and spontaneity of the game; it has made onfield refs less confident and without decisions being explained or justified, has left fans, players and managers confused and conflicted.

We should abandon VAR and instead ask the refs to hold a press conference say 24 hours after the match to explain any decisions which might be seen as biased/wrong/debatable. And if a ref says "didn't see it", then he didn't and we move on.

I think the consensus has eventually reached this conclusion but, given the scale of the Stockley Park operation and the likely commercial contacts involved I’m
guessing the relevant authorities just don’t have the bottle to pull the plug.

So it limps on, and the authorities try in vain to convince us it’s a good thing.

And the real shame is that a better designed system might have worked. As soon as I saw those stupid offside lines being drawn, I knew it had been put together by cretins.

Was there really no one at any point shouting ‘hold on, this is going seriously disrupt game flow’ or spotting that it would considerably increase the number of marginal
offside decisions in favour of the defensive team?? Because these things were obvious from the start.

Because Man Utd are too big and Man Utd need to be successful for their millions and millions of followers around the globe to be kept happy so they keep buying all the merchandise, sky subscriptions and countless other things.

T he at was the most blatant penalty I’ve ever seen. It’s embarrassing.

I can think of another , Man city v saints couple seasons ago walker flattened Armstrong, ref gave it . Sent off walker .. got told to to look and change the decision.. no pen and no red card .... Walker was laughing ...one of the worst .
Not to mention jannyb getting sent off for the Penalty that never was and Che Adams goal being chalked off for being ironically ,onside .... at old Trafford

See the officials have got another assist, check man city’s second goal today. Should never have stood. It’s weird how the officials don’t make these mistakes when it’s a non big 6 club goal

Keeper unsighted.

Yeah just seen it now, and tbf I can understand why the refs let it stand as the keeper can clearly see the ball before and after the header and knows where it’s going, and seeing how the attacker didn’t actually touch the ball I can at least understand why they’ve gone with that decision.
But for me yeah I’d agree that it should be an offside as he is gaining an advantage from it, and is within playing distance of the ball so his movements could even be argued/seen as an attempt to play the ball or such.

But this incident isn’t anywhere near as bad as some of the others we’ve seen recently, and at least I can understand why the officials didn’t give this one. But I just feel like this is where the LOTG need to be clearer as there’s quite a large grey area currently as to what’s seen as interfering with play and what is not.
