Wealdstone have had to switch their FA Trophy game to Hendon tonight as their pitch is waterlogged again. Third time they've postponed that game at their place.
Can see the clubs thinking on this in that rain is forecast today and a late postponement would see us having to fork out for Borehamwood's travel costs i think plus other costs we'd incur if postponed late. Also given our current form and likely poor crowd there's not much desire to get the game on. If we'd won our last 4 games then maybe we'd have put more effort into to get it played. |  | | |

There's also the issue of ground maintenance, on two fronts:
First, do our current groundstaff have the knowledge and skills to be able to maintain the pitch in the condition required for professional football? This is no slight on them: they may simply not have the experience and leadership (i could be wrong, but having one of our groundstaff dismissed for misconduct won't have helped)
Secondly, the terms of maintenance required in order for the "ten year guarantee" to remain valid may have been let slip (Edit: just read Sandyman's post, making a similar point) [Post edited 20 Feb 11:46]

Sadly, we didn't stick to what was recommended, and the pitch failed badly. Think we bought cheap sand instead of what they told us, and it clogged everything up drainage wise.

Doubt it, learning from previous examples doesnt seem to be high on the agenda. People move on and dont leave their knowledge behind, there is no manual , so new people simply do what seems like a good idea irrespective of what should happen to maintain guarantees. |  | | |
