Its striking how much pace the team is showing under Tonda.
When the ball is played in midfield there's none of this endless sideways passing.
Léo Scienza drives forward ably supported by F. Azaz who has in support T. Fellows who is terrorizing down the wing and C. Jander backing them all up.
Who put recharged batteries in Armstrong he is dynamite.
Now I am going to get slaughtered for this but I am hoping D. Downs will come good.
I know his first touch is poor but given the side is playing so much better I hope he sees the ball more and with this his confidence growing ,one can only hope.
Frankly I am amazed at the change Tonda has brought out in the team.

Spot on with what you are saying, I do feel sorry for Downs, as he came on both at Charlton & last night to a system that isn't really playing to his strengths and a team where the key players had gone off with the game won to conserve them for the next game.

At the moment the way we play with Adam Armstrong as the number 9 is laying the ball into him to drop deep hold it up and lay it off, playing with his back to the goal, this isn't DD's game, he is an old fashioned type centre forward, he want to run on to passes facing the goal and get on the end of crosses.
I don't think he is as bad as some would make out, but I can't see him flourishing in the way that we are now playing | |

Downs doesn't have the upper body strength and balance required. He needs to work hard on these two aspects to give himself a chance at this level. If he doesn't bulk up he'll always be too weak to compete. | | | |

One of the worst acquisitions Saints have ever made... and God knows we've made a fair few! I see nothing, zero, zilch in him that made Saints pay what they did for him. He'd struggle in League 1 let alone at this level or even higher.

We have always had pace we ar just now actually utilising it as opposed to passing it around at the back and we are now looking forwards with fellows Leo Jander and azaz
Moving AA more central has helped endlessly, I was castigated a while back saying it was pointless playing him out wide but it was a waste
