Is arrogance our problem? 22:24 - Dec 26 with 540 viewsA1079

Our attitude to playing Oxford Utd stank today. Yes, we had plenty of possession and arguably a few chances to win it (though we did not create as many chances as we should have by a long way) and the Ref made some poor decisions (arguably for both sides). But you could sense it in the body language, the way the players did not seem to have no sense of urgency or strong will to fight for a win. It was as if, we just expected to just turn up and win. Even when the minutes were ticking down there was no sense of urgency. Some strange decisions by Eckert as well - why would you take off Scienza and Fellows (unless they are carrying an injury or on a yellow) when we are not winning? Our midfield was so ineffective today - almost non-existent as any sense of force.

Sadly apathy is more the problem for me. Apathy breeds contempt and that stems from the owners through to the playing staff (and subsequently the fanbase).

What times the next protest / rendezvous at the Ted Bates statue?

Totally agree and I think a lot of that comes from our so called club captain who thinks he is WAY better than he is
Subbing both Leo and Fellows was insanity the only two looking to Make things happen
Azaz was awful

The lack of a proper spine: goalkeeper - centre half - centre forward - is our main problem, although the underlying cause of that is Sport Republic's recruitment. I haven't included centre midfield here because, when he's available, Shea Charles is our most consistent player.

Sport Republic buy a lot of flashy young midfielders, hoping to sell at least one or two every year for a big profit (and they have succeeded in their objective), whilst disregarding teambuilding, which, as everyone knows, starts with the spine of the team. Teams that win the Championship have a strong spine with tall, strong, physically dominant players - who are not necessarily the most skilful.

SR's recruitment is all style and no substance; not what you need in the Championship.
