Back from the match
Thought 4-1 flattered us tbh, they are a good side that's very well coached, when they got the goal back i was concerned how the rest of the match would pan out but Matsuki's really nice finish was the clincher
An all round top weekend, Saints winning 4-1 and an excellent night out in Shepherds Bush yesterday watching St Etienne
The highlight though was meeting an esteemed contributor to this forum on the way out of The Chapel this afternoon

Yes a rather edgy game to begin with and that goal at the end of the first half settled nerves a bit until they scored. I thought we looked much more determined after their goal and we stepped it up a gear.After that we pretty much controlled the game.
Nice move by Tonda bringing on Fellows and switching Matsuki to the left, when he needed to preserve Scienza. That's a much better idea than bringing Dobbin on.

They were a good side and we rode our luck but we are clinical which has been missing for a long time

Tonda Eckert has got the team pacing the game brilliantly. They soak up pressure and save up energy for the final quarter of the game when the opposition are tiring, then rip into them and score at will. It's what opposition teams used to do to us under previous managers. After every defeat, we used to say ,"but we played really well for the first 60 minutes." Exactly what Bristol City fans will be saying tonight - the fools.
You could see from the way our players were strolling around nonchalantly early on that they knew exactly what they were going to do, while Bristol City looked shattered by our tactics at the end after all the early effort they'd put in. [Post edited 12 Sep 20:50]
