1, Club wait until season ticket renewal deadline has passed before announcing Kevin Keegan has been sold in the summer of 1982, the Daily Echo even had to have a letters page to deal with it, the price of carrier pigeons soared

2. . Saints draw a pre season friendly at Bashley in the summer of 1991, they are booed off the pitch by the travelling fans and the coach is firstly bricked as it leaves the ground and then blown up by a landmine as it passes through Lyndhurst.

3. When Bolton are incorrectly awarded a throw in at the Dell on the opening day of the season in 1997 and Lee Todd doesn't protest and even appears to laugh, he is accused of lacking ambition and costing Saints an almost certain Champions League place as Saints collapse to a 1-0 defeat, the subsequent rioting destroys much of the City's medieval walls, the Mecca Ballroom on the Royal Pier and a Red Funnel ferry is torched . Todd is villified and barely plays again for the club and is accused of being the worst player in the history of the club. When he is sold in the summer of 1998, a mob carrying torches and pitchforks descend on Rupert Lowe's country estate and accuse him of selling our best players and buying no marks from Blackburn like James Beattie for peanuts

1. The summer when Pochettino, Shaw, Lovren, Lallana, Lambert and Chambers all left.

2. Hoddle walking out and coming back for Dean Richards.

3. Souness falling out with Lowe. Walking out, Berkovic soon following.

Oddly, all three situations worked out OK in the end…….

Poll: Does anybody think Saints can get promoted this season?

Those two fellas who handed back their season tickets when they had to pay a pound for car parking was a personal favourite of mine. The fact they took they grumble to the Daily Echo and were photographed angry arms crossed in their replica kits made it even better.

"The Chapel Kop at Southampton is widely regarded as the most passionate and intimidating Kop in European football."
