I was wondering Nick, when was the last time we faced a non-league team in the FA Cup home or away? despite my 40 plus years of watching Saints I honestly can't remember one, but it must have happened. Luton a few years ago were actually in the conference when we played them in the cup, before that it was back in the 1950's i think | |

We played Sunderland in the 3rd round in 1961/62 and the following season we reached the semi-final.

Yep, and we beat Walton & Hersham in the first round that year which, I believe, was the last time we played a non-league team until we were drawn against Luton in 2010.
Delving a bit deeper, it seems that we've only failed to make the third round five times since the start of the First World War. As a comparision, our nearest and dearest have failed to make the third round five times in the last nine years. | | | |
