Like many, I think Forster is the better keeper, despite his know weaknesses. I think the defence is more confident because he is behind them.I hope he asks for a reasonable wage and contract, 2 years would be reasonable, three if his wages suit the club. Despite his previous wobble, he has always proved to be professional, something that seems to ring RH's bell. |  |

It may just be a complete coincidence but our improvement in form of late has tied in with him coming back in the team. I’d definitely prefer him retained than McCarthy, it’s just if he will accept a reduction in wages as I can’t see the club shelling out what we are currently paying him. |  |

I dont think there is any doubt that he will accept a reduction in wages, he is aware that at his age he will not get the 85k a week or so he is on now, probably well less than half of that wherever he goes.
Players out of contract in their 30's know that they are not going to get the same money with a new contract, Shane Long for instance won't be on what he was before | |

Time for an unpopular opinion then. Things are far too positive at the moment!
I still think we need a new first choice keeper. I agree Forster has looked better than AM and he has made some good saves.
But to me he still looks slow and cumbersome - and when a cross comes in, you never know if he is going to stay on his line, punch it, try to catch it, or make a suicidal dash and get nowhere near it.
And also (and this makes no difference at all i guess) but I've rarely seen a player who looks like he enjoys playing less than FF. He just looks to me like he doesn't really want to be there.
I'd like to see a younger keeper, maybe 25 to 30 year old as first choice. Nick Pope would be my choice, surely he's sick of fighting relegation with Burnley by now? |  | | |

Dan Sheldon who writes for The Arthritic has joined TSW forum (that will end well...) and has confirmed that both McCarthy and Stephens have signed new deals but for some reason the club has chose not to announce either of these yet.
As 'proof' he has posted a link to a list of agent deals which seems to confirm this:
